I want to bolt a '04 12R engine into my '03 9S, I'm sure someone has done this. Do I just have to swap the engine and ecm? Will the ecm just plug into the 9's harness? I already upgraded the belt system. |

direct swap mechanically, but you will need the ECM, throttle body, and a 12 exhaust manifold (larger diameter tubes) IIRC |

Yea I forgot about those couple items that will be included with the engine, but the 12 ecm will plug right into my 9 harness? (Message edited by danman2540 on November 08, 2007) |

yup, there won't be a wire to attach to the terminal for the exhaust servo, so it will throw a code, but it will run fine. A servo emulator or a 12 race ECM will fix the code. |

You must be looking at the same EBAY engine I've been eyeing. I just can't spend a couple grand, but I'd love to do the swap too. |

Why not just put in the motor and leave all the electronics and ecm the same?? It would be like putting in a big bore kit. You could tune with direct link or power commander. The 12 throttle body should work with the 9 ecm as well, the only difference was the diameter. In 05 all the 9's started running the same size t-body. I like this, I am trying to get my old 12 motor in a 9 so lets get this all talked about! Oh yeah, boss man will be here today so I will be signing off till about 6 tonight soon. |

I'm guessing a used 12 ecm would be cheaper and less hassle than a power commander with a 9 ecm, especially since the unusual combo would probably need dyno time. Would be fun though, if you don't mind spending the money and time. New12R: If you change your mind and want to sell your 12 engine, please let me know. Every day my 9 feels slower. |

Hey, if you're selling the XB9 engine, shoot me a PM. It is a GREAT engine as a starter for a race engine. I'll be punching the bores out, putting on new cylinders/pistons/bottom end so am always looking for a thrashed XB9 engine. |

Slaughter, If I could get the 12 and sell you the nine, that would be stellar. My nine is a daily runner right now, but at the altitudes that I'm riding I need more acceleration. I loved the 9 at low altitudes, but it feels a bit like a Toro rear engine rider above 8,000 feet. |

Scott, I'm secretly hoping for a thrashed engine. I have a rolling chassis and other spares so can't afford more garage space for more extras (already have 4 bikes in the garage plus the crashed XB9 racer all taken apart) I don't know how much shipping costs would be to CA. I've put a feeler out to Duga to see if he still has race-only used XB9 engines but it's still the Weekend. |

Well, if you can get your hands on a good 12 engine, I'll trade you my nine plus a few bucks. |

The xb 9 ecm will not run good on a 12 the rpm limiter is higher and the advance curve is different |

OKAY, here goes, I got my 9 motor. I am looking for my best options. I want to buy New12's motor and stuff it my frame. So what I have is the 9 motor, tranny went out on it: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=3842&post=1007345#POST1007345 I bought another transmission already, it is still in the shipping box! What can I get for it? Is anybody interested? I also have a race ECM, new NIB. New12 tells me that I will have to use my clutch basket: if so that will not be included. WILL THE CHAIN FROM THE 9 FIT ON THE 12???? (Message edited by u4euh on November 13, 2007) (Message edited by u4euh on November 13, 2007) |

WILL THE CHAIN FROM THE 9 FIT ON THE 12???? We will use my chain, the clutches are the same. Or if you really want to have fun we can put your nine gearing in the 12 with your chain/clutch/front drive gear! |
