Hi everyone,been reading the board for awhile,and am seriously thinking of a move away from jap bikes and getting a XBSs long or Super TT.The only ones i've found are pretty far away.And i have'nt had the time to go look yet.So my question is.I'm 6'7 and around 290,are the Buells pretty good bikes for big guys?Anybody similar?What are your thoughts?Thanks Mike. | ||

I'm not sure because I'm not that big of a guy but from what I hear the Ss and the Uly are pretty good for bigger guys not sure how the TT is though. | ||

well I am 280 lbs but I am no where nere 6'7" I have the ss and wieght wise no problems at all the Uly is taller but with the stock seat the ss should be quite tolerable, to me the SS the way its stable and more than comfortable I can do 250 miles in a day no problem at all witch is a fair days riding | ||

livnlo is over 300, and he drags his knee with an xb12r. the size of the bike seems to suit him well. i know he did have his rear shock rebuilt to better suit his size, plus he rides a passenger a fair bit. test rides are free if you've got a dealer local to you. | ||

Buell is a taller bike and fits bigger people nicely in 6'2" and 240 and my 12r fits great | ||

Girthy 5-6 / 5-7 (depending on shoes) and two-fiddy. The CityX gets it done, but I have totally re arranged the ergos on that bike to make it fit. There is alot of adjustability in the bikes. Go demo ;) | ||

If you considering the SS or the TT, I would go with the TT. It has a slightly longer travel suspension than the SS which would make it a more comfortable ride for a big guy. That said, you should still look into a suspension rebuild. Let's face it the stock suspension is designed around a guy that weighs 165-170lbs. The Uly would be an even better fit. | ||

The Uly has been referred to many times on this board as a sport bike for big guys. Sorry, that's my only input to this thread... I'm not a big guy, and I'm not on an XB. | ||

The TT has almost the same seat hight as the Uly. 31.5" with about 1.5" less travel. I'm right at 6' and find I'm on the balls of my feet. The Uly has a two up seat the TT is a solo ride unless you buy the two up seat kit with pegs and all. I'm just over 200 lbs and have the shocks set at the second lightest setting as per the book! So you could ramp it up a bit, manual stop at 270-GVWR. | ||

The TT has a bit higher pegs, which may make it slightly less comfy for the taller people. | ||

I am 6'4" and 170 (tall and Lanky) and I ride a cityX I am surprised at how well it fits me. of course when you see me on it the bike looks tiny but the seat hieght is very tall and allows the knees to not be to bent. | ||

For taller guys remember that the Uly rearsets could be mounted on the the other XB models to increase the leg room at the expense of a little bit of lean angle. That's one of the beauties of the common platform, it lends itself well to "lego engineering" by the owners. Like my bike, Firebolt with SCG suspension and I've got a city-X "X" on my air box. | ||

I just did a demo day and rode the S, the SS, and the X(Uly). It amazed me the difference I felt in the S and the SS even though it is only two inches. Two inches in length doesn't sound like much. In fact looking at the bikes I really couldn't see any difference, but it felt worlds different. I am not as big as you are, but I am not small either. I had a buddy with me who is still not your size, but he is taller than me (he is probably about 6'3". He liked the Uly best and I think the TT next. I did not ride the TT myself. Good luck. Oh, and while the Firebolt has a position that I don't think I could maintain for long distances, I did not feel cramped. | ||

I'm 6'4", 200. Tall, lanky, and I ride a tuber. However, of the XBs the Uly is by far my favorite. I have a 34" inseam and can plant both heels nicely at a stop, the seat-to-peg height is just about perfect, and the seat-to-bar reach is also nice (and I can rarely buy shirts off the rack - sasquatch arms). I love the XB-R for hot rides, and have built my S1W to mimic it as much as possible with clip-ons, etc. The Ss is a nice ride, but too upright for my torso height when at speed, with not enough wind protection for my tastes and height. The S and TT I'm most comfortable sitting on the passenger seat; an Scg and you'll catch me sitting just about on the taillight. Uly? Perfect, wouldn't change a thing. | ||

I am 6'1" 235lbs and currently ride an Ss long. I feel its just on the edge and some times wonder if I shouldn't just have gotten the Uly. | ||

6'3" 205 XB12R. Bike run good. Little tight, but fit like glove after few miles. 515 mi. longest day to date. I'm skeemin on my Iron Butt route...(has anybody done a Iron Butt on an XB12R on this board?) My question to you is: If you fell in love with a woman who was only 5'1" would you still enjoy the ride? Answer to both is: Take a test ride, and see for yourself. BTW, Ulys are very comfortable.... Hex | ||

I'm another big guy that rides a Buell firebolt. I'm 6'2" and weigh 240 or so, and while the bike is small (and looks even smaller with a big guy on it) it is quite comfortable for me, although as I said before there is a lot you can do to tailor it to your personal preferences. | ||

I'm 6'2" and am very comfy on the XB9SX. I was at my local dealer (F&S) and they had a 9sx right next to a TT... amazingly to me, the 9sx had the taller seat. At least it looked that way. I wouldn't mind an extra inch of lower pegs (I only scrap pegs on my 9 on track days or screwing around in a parking lot trying to scrape pegs). And it will probably be tight on a 6'6" guy. But at 6'2", its a lot more comfortable then I expected, comparable (if not better) then my M2. I was up to 250lbs, suspension worked fine, I am back down to 225 now (and still loosing!  ) and it works a lot better. | ||

I'm 6'-4" and 36" inseam. Only weigh about 175 lbs though. The suspension has a very wide range of adjustment, and the Uly has an easy adjust knob to increase rear preload for extra weight. I use pretty close to stock settings for my weight, with a bit more preload in the forks (to reduce dive on my '06). Uly is the most comfortable sporting bike I have ever ridden, and this is the main reason I bought it. Why pay the penalty for racer-replica ergonomics if you really ride on the street? I have found no real-world situation that the Uly cannot handle, and it handles many (gravel, rough pavement, dirt) better than any sport bike ever could. If you just cannot like the Uly for some reason, than any of the XB long's would be a good second choice, especially the TT. | ||
