So this has happened about 5 times within the past two weeks. I start it after sitting overnight, it idles for about 2 seconds and dies. I go to restart it, and after about 3 seconds on the starter it starts to sputter, if I hit the gas just right it will crank. I hold it at about 1500 for a few seconds and let off, it returns to idle and acts like nothing ever happened. Acts like its an old carburator??!?? I know the FI is a primative setup but anyone have any ideas? Also the fuel pump has an odd drown to it every now and then. I have extended warranty, but I'm not a fan of having someone else work on my baby! Just trying to see if its a common problem, before I get into any hardcore diagnosis. Thanks!! -Robert |

What's primitive about the fuel injection? Had your TPS reset lately? The throttle can wear-in some, leaving the TPS calibration slightly off. |

Blake -Well, I'm looking at it from an auto technicians point of view. Theres no closed loop running with the FI, as a car would have. it just goes off of fixed values/ temps and RPM's. A primitive setup. But i'm not saying its a bad setup. It's SIMPLE! And I like simple! Working for Benz, I have found they over complicate things a great deal! But its mainly due to emissions. as soon as bikes get emissions testing it will be advanced like a new car. which really will just lead to more problems. Anyhow, I'm not sure about the TPS. I bought the bike 9 months ago with 12K. Ive only put a few thousand on her and I have not done the TPS reset. Not sure if previous owner did at 10K or not. probably not. I guess it makes sense to do that first! THANKS!! (PS-Blake, did you get my email about the BadWeb link?) |

You know what, I just realized the Buell has an 02 sensor, so it does go into closed loop! I guess my mind was on my old FI jap bike. It did NOT have an 02, so closed loop was never achieved. |

This could be a great opportunity for you to try the Edit Post feature. |

Blake - Show off with your fancy links and ideas of "edits" HAHA Thought about it, but didn't know if anyone had read it already. Plus I really could care less if I look like an idiot for a little bit. Bound to happen sooner or later. Guess i'll be buying the Buell computer soon, to do the TPS myself. There goes another chunk of change to that machine! |

TPS options are getting better all the time... some free software to do it these days, though you have to do a little cabling. It's on my list of winter projects. |

Reepicheep - I do not follow? there are other means to reset my TPS then use the Buell specific computer? A little cabling is no big deal. do you have a link to any info on it? Blake - I resent the email. this time to the right address. And yea, winter??? Also, Blake I have to say when I'm screwing around on BadWeb and all the sudden my banner pops up, it puts a smile on my face!!! |
