Weight (wet) 455 incl gas and oil After a new motorcycle has been ridden its first 620 miles 1000 kilometers , take it to an authorized Buell dealer to have an initial service performed. Buell recommends using Screamin' Eagle SYN3 Synthetic Motorcycle Lubricant when adding or changing oil. If SYN3 is not available and addition of motor oil is required, H-D 360 SAE 20W50 may be used. Although H-D 360 is compatible with SYN3, we suggest the mixture of the fluids be changed as soon as possible. If SYN3 or H-D 360 are not available, the final option would be to add a synthetic 15W-50 oil that meets SG and JASO MA specifications. We again suggest the mixture of the fluids be changed as soon as possible. At the first opportunity, see an authorized dealer to change back to 100 percent Harley-Davidson oil. |

If security system is armed, the PIN will be required. Failure to enter the correct PIN after 20 tries results in a 30 minute lockout. |

The vehicle is equipped with an auxiliary power connector for available parts and accessories, including heated grips. NOTE: When battery voltage is low, the vehicle may cut off power to accessories to conserve power for other functions. |

The sound design, quality materials, and workmanship that are built into your new motorcycle will give you optimum performance right from the start. To allow your engine to wear in its critical parts, we recommend that you observe the riding rules provided below for the first 600 miles 1000 kilometers . Adhering to these suggestions will help to assure good future durability and performance. During the first 300 miles 500 kilometers of riding, keep the engine speed below 6000 RPM in any gear. Do not lug the engine by running or accelerating at very low RPM, or by running at high RPM longer than needed for shifting or passing. Up to 600 miles 1000 kilometers , vary the engine speed and avoid operating at any steady engine speed for long periods. Engine speed up to 7500 RPM in any gear is permissible. |

A whole section just like the ones in the other manuals, 20-lb weight differences with recommended settings (front/rear preload, compression, rebound) |

If I'm reading the NGK spark plug selection number guide correctly for their (NGK CR9EKB)it looks like the plug is a 10mm, 3/4 reach, resistor type, relatively hot with twin ground electrodes and special design. Anybody look this up also? Might be a little hard to find to have an extra set. Wonder if it will have a HD number also, and be available there. Bob |

My Xb9R - 2003 had a small kit, with an axle wrench, a T-30 L-wrench and a 4-way screwdriver. Found the NGK CR9EKB at Rock Auto for a little over 5 bucks a pop. Z |

"Two oil drain plugs?" one for engine oil, the other for tranny? |

Remember the oil "bag" is on the left side of the motor instead of in the swingarm like the XBs... Z |

Where is the toolkit on a XB12S? There's no storage compartment? it might include oil for the tranny, but you dump from two places but only add to one. |

Should have been under the seat somewhere, maybe next to the battery. |

The service intervals in miles and Kilometers don't match. Seems like they want major service at 10,000 kilometer intervals. That's about 6000 miles between oil changes. Thats a lot, even with Synthetic. The thing is, the 30,000 km interval is listed as 24,800 miles, which would give a 12, 400 mile interval between the third and fourth oil change. THAT IS A LOT! A conversion error, no doubt. I really get a laugh out of Harley recommending that if, God forbid, you have to top up with some second rate non Harley Brand of oil, like Mobil 1, you empty it out, and switch back to genuine Harley oil as soon as possible. Actually, not a bad idea if you are planning on changing your oil every 12,400 miles.

My BMW (car) first service was 18,000miles. Second will be at 30,000. Only the oil companies want you to change every 3k and as the have for a while now, they recommend changing the filter at every other oil change |

""they recommend changing the filter at every other oil change"" That's like changing your socks and underwear every other shower. Nasty! Why ruin good, new, expensive oil just to save a couple bucks on a filter? I'll be changing filters at every oil change, as always. |

That's about 6000 miles between oil changes. Thats a lot, even with Synthetic. Recommended oil change interval for the Uly is 5k miles, and thats with dino oil. |
