Just reset my TPS today , rode it around the block and it seemed OK . I read somewhere you needed to ride it for 15 to 30 minutes at 3000 rpm for the new ECM to re-learn something . Is that correct ? It seemed to run not quite as smooth as stock , when I rode it around the block , but I did not ride it for very long . I made sure I did everything correct when I reset the TPS . Did it twice . Oh , by the way , I have a Jardine pipe , Race ECM , and K&N Filter . |

Did you do the idle adjustment at the same time? Was it at the correct temp? Did you do the TPS first? |

When I had my TPS done, the idle was adjusted as well (it was low). It took more than a few minutes for the ECM to re-learn, The motor ran kind of rough for about the first 100 miles, then it seemed to find its happy place and now runs like a champ. Maybe my ECM rode the little yellow bus to school? (Message edited by buellinachinashop on November 04, 2007) |

I did it all to the book . I'm going to take it on a ride tomorrow . I'll see how it runs after that . |

"I read somewhere you needed to ride it for 15 to 30 minutes at 3000 rpm for the new ECM to re-learn something . Is that correct ?" With all due respect, are you sure you know "to the book" all that well? |

I had a hardley dealer do mine at 1ooo miles. Never ran as well afterwards. I purchased the cable and software, did my own according to Al's direction and now the bike runs great. |

When I do the TPS Reset using the VDSTS software I got from American Sport Bike, she runs good after I am finished right away. However this is if the temperature stays relatively constant...if this was done when it was warm/cold and then the bike was ridden the next time when it was the opposite then it MIGHT run a little off until the ECM relearns. But generally the bike runs very well right off the bat after doing a TPS reset. I do them when I change the plugs about every 8000 miles or so. I had one instance where the bike was not running right one day and I found the TPS was off a little (by voltage) when I redid it...never had that happen since then though. |
