Jim - already sent a PM..he's posted here on BadWeB as well. Timings not great, but the price is, so what do you do? Spike - your jacket already matches the Uly! Hope your test ride tells you what you want to know. Jim - you'll have to give us the low down on a Firebolt. He'd love for our driveway to look like the one in the picture you posted. |

Okay Jim that is something else to add to the Buell Fanatic thread! I do not know why I thought you had Sport-Attacks on the Uly. That is what I had and they lasted 2600 miles to the wear bars. The Strada that I just took off the Uly got 5200 miles to cords. The Conti-Force I had did not last any longer than the Sport-Attacks. I have never had the Road-Attacks on the Uly, I am glad they have done so well for you. I just put on the Scorpion Syncs on the Uly and really like the turn in of the tires do to the profiles. I put the front tire before Buellotoberfest and they quickly became my favorite tire on Pavement. Webe is getting a little better life out of the Syncs then I got out of the Stradas (5200 vs 6000) so I am hoping for similar mileage. My best mileage on any rear tire on any bike was the D205 on the M2 returning from Cincinnati on Memorial Day weekend. Of course if I could have found a willing supplier I would have changed the tire out at 5200 miles. The K505 Bias-Ply tires on the Nighthawk would last between 5000 and 5500 miles. Of course I have never rode the roads for a constant 8000 miles so I do not know what mileage I could get if I tried. Sounds like something I have to do in the name of science. |

This is Jim's Ulysses: That is not Jim's garage. Jim is a trusting man. Jim- Please do not be shy with that Firebolt. I assure you, you can't do anything with it that I haven't already done. As long as it comes back in one piece (or enough pieces that it can be reassembled) everything will be fine. |

Thanks Mike, the daughter saw it and wants to go for a ride. I'll see if I can figure out how you made that seat magically appear. You all will notice in the picture Mike posted of my Uly that the front header is discolored around the cylinder. That occurred on this trip and I _think_ it is due to riding in the rain and boiling massive amounts of dirty rain water off the header. Hopefully it isn't some sort of leak. But it's been that way for 5000 miles, so I guess it isn't hurting anything. |

Jim is a trusting man. The trust and friendship that has grown out of C3 is pretty neat. I think Jim has outgrown his shyness! |

Welcome home Jim, I wish you were able to stop by on your trip but think you took the right route south of this area. It is 80 degrees today but we have already had some days that I did not ride to work and some snow in the mountains. I wish I had discovered your thread earlier. I could have met you in Limon, CO and rode with you for part of your trip through Colorado. Next time Jim. Glad you are home safe. Frank |

I think Jim has outgrown his shyness! Truer words have never been said. Plus, based on his post on the Buell fanatic thread about all the names in a cell phone being badweb user names, I think he has come around to embracing cell phone technology as well... Suddenly I am short 2 cents, 1313 |

Took the Uly in for it's 15k service @ Sheltons this week, but couldn,t pick the bike up til Sat mid day.Wanted to do the toy run that Shelton,s has but got there too late for every thing.Huge crowd of BIKERS. The service guys were enjoying a lunch break as I walked in to pick up the bike.Hey guys ,I said I can wait, finnish your lunch I'm in no hurry. So I go to the parts counter to pay for the service and yep it happened, the sarchasim I couldn't hold back.Saw the head guy at the parts counter (first name basis) said hello ,I said, I thought Halloween was Wednesday, the guys about lost it with eyes wide open.We laughed and carried on for a few moments and I was ready to get the bike and go. I had a note on my ticket, needs front tire.Ok yea for inspection purposes maybee.Buell guy standards don't see chord yet. Then it happened again in the service department.Hey I seem to remember that Harley had a Entusiest mag come out last spring saying that you will never wear out the front tire,it will dry rot first.Does my tire show signs of dry rot? And I started the chain saw again. Just though I would share the hummor.Later all, Webe |

Jim's Ulysses returns from a hard day of work (aka- Mike finds out what the triple-tail is for): I was going to take this picture in front of the "welcome to Goldsboro" sign, but the sun was setting and I was in a hurry to get home. In case you are wondering, those are Positrak MP servers (proprietary- don't ask). The left side bag is holding a spool of cable, cable ends, crimping tool, a few pieces of cat-5, a face shield, gloves, and some bungees. The right side bag is holding my laptop (15.4" widescreen) in it's case, a sweatshirt, my digital camera, and a few other tools. Neither bag is even close to being full. It's also worth noting that with this load the bike is a serious wheelie-machine in 1st gear. |

Wow! The wheels aren't brake dust brown any more! It's also worth noting that with this load the bike is a serious wheelie-machine in 1st gear. Wait till you get your wife back there. |

that is the cleanest Jim's bike has been in a long time! And I think I may be the only other person on here that knows what a Positrak server is. |

Jim picked it up on Pearl Harbor Day,7Dec 06. Spike be careful, you are doing the same thing I did a year ago with M2ncs' Uly. When practicality sets in and the wheelies start ,too late the Uly bug has already got you. The Uly is a all around great bike. 1.Play=Corner burn with the boys. 2.Work=great commuter, bring home the groceries, etc 3. Ride=solo,2-up,storage capacity out the wazoo 4.Handling=ride like a sport bike, ride like a cruiser, ride like a dirt bike(off road)with limits. The taller bike (Uly) will be a more drastic change from the Firebolt, quick switch backs require you to think and react sooner than on the Firebolt, larger arc in order to make transitions. Stiffen up the rear on preload and it will quicken steering and just throw in a little shoulder in the direction of curve and stick you will, and hell if you do like I started doing in West Virginia might even get good at pulling wheelie conning out of a curve. The choice is yours, but I think it is too late,I see a Uly in your future. Later, Webe Uly thumpin |

You're putting some miles on that bike. IMO, that's what they are for! The choice is yours, but I think it is too late,I see a Uly in your future. How long until the Winter Dealer Meeting? Who knows what Buell has up it's collective sleeve? Speaking of which, the Winter Dealer Meeting is usually the weekend after the DC IMS (International Motorcycle Show) Show. Anyone got plans to go again this year? Another chance to see the 1125R in the flesh (plastic?) if you haven't yet, and a special 25th anniversary gift for Buell key holders, plus a chance to see all the 2008 offerings from the major motorcycle mfr's. I don't know what the gift is this year, but I'm sure we will find out soon enough right here on the Buell internet portal affectionately known as BadWeB... 1313 |

Another day, another adventure with Jim's Ulysses: I'm quite certain this bike can do anything. I have no idea how to quantify it, but I'd bet that the Ulysses can do anything any other license-plate-wearing motorcycle can do, and in some cases the Ulysses can do it better. It's kind of like a jack of all trades that has mastered a few of them. I've got a bunch of other thoughts/comments, but I'd like to give myself a few more days to compile them into something coherent. I'm impressed with the Ulysses to be sure, but I'm not ready to let go of my Firebolt just yet. 1313- I'm definitely up for the IMS this year, assuming there isn't already something on the calendar for that weekend. We can take my 'speed6--it's more comfortable than my 3 that we took last time, and it has AWD in case it gets slushy again. |

Spike, that's fantastic! I guess I shouldn't tell you I've got street tires on the bike. The Syncs should do better in that stuff. |
