Hurray! I'm all set to make first contact with my bike's ECM. However, I had a question or two about it, and didn't see the answers in the Tuning Guide. 1.) When I start the program, it asks me to choose a "Bike/Firmware". The latest 12 on display is December 11 of 2003. My bike is an '06 model. I'm assuming they still use the '03 firmware up through 2007? Just double checking before I start my tinkering. 2.) Once I get everything set up, I'll be looking into my bikes timing. I think I may have boogered it a bit... not much, but I want to go through the factory process of setting it back properly. The factory manual talks about checking voltages and whatnot using Buell's equipment. So, which values will I need to look at in ECMSpy? I did a search of the Tuning Guide, but timing is only mentioned in passing, so I don't know what I should be looking at. 3.) The most important question of all: where exactly do I plug in the cable? (I know, I should look that up somewhere, but I thought I'd go ahead and ask since I already had your attention!) Thanks! ~SM |

1. Not sure for your 12 because I have a 9. 2. Re-read the tuning guide because I know there is a page or two dedicated to checking the timing. Pretty straight forward. 3. Remove seat, the dongle is just above the ECM with a plug in it. It will be the only connector dangling freely with a rubber plug in it. If you lost your plug, it should be the only connector with nothing plugged into it. |

Ah, thanks for that bit of info. I was reading the web page version of the manual, which has been shortened. I found the timing section in the full word document. ~SM |

Agreed. Tuning in general would be fantastic. |

this " Buell Bike Tech" What the point of that? Seems under used and redundant? Why not put tuning directly under KV? |

Because that's where I put it that's why. I'm former head of the department of redundancy department president retired, so it just seemed natural. |

the information about the type of ECM are in the file ecmspymod.ini. Please download the newest ecmspymod.ini from the following location. http://www.ecmspy.de/download/ecmspymod.ini Copy the file to the ecmspy folder. give that a try |

Looks like the firmware dates are still the same, but it's divided up much better. Thanks a bunch Gemini! I can't wait to reset my own TPS tomorrow! ~SM |
