This exhaust system will fit tube frame models only. The step header exhaust system was manufactured by Kooks located in Long Island, NY. It is manufactured from T304 stainless steel. This is the only system that out performed the full Buell pro series race exhaust from low end through red line (see earlier Battle To Win articles). I ran the system for one season on my S3T, but went back to stock, as I was using the bike for touring and the tranquility of the stock system was more appreciated than the performance on long trips. I will run the header through our cleaning system at work prior to shipment, which will remove all blueing on the pipe.

The exhaust will fit all tube frame models. Note, you cannot use this exhaust with the stock bread box. |

The exhaust will fit all tube frame models. NO IT WON'T If that was on yoru 2000 S3, it will not fit any tuber from 98 and earlier. Notonly was your S3 FI but the rear pipe went under the frame. It is not possible to fit that style pipe on a older tuber with a over the frame exhaust. IE tubers from 95 to 98... |

If you ran it on your S3T which is FI where did you put the 02 sensor??? Also like Tony said the exhaust won't clear the frame. |

I put the O2 sensor in the O2 sensor port. If on a carb bike, then you thread a plug in the socket weld. |

Yeah I'd like to see that... a pic that is of both on your 96 and 2000. Spiderman has a Kook's system on his tuber as well. |

I ran the system for one season on my S3T Your profile says you have a 2000 S3. If you ran it on a 97/96 then it is a older "over the frame" style pipe and will fit all tubers 95 to 98. It will not fit any tubers that have under the frame IE 98 to 02. only a pic will shut 'em up When you have been workin on Buells as long as I have, then you can talk... |

Come on Spidy. I remember you had a KT for a "over the frame" on your '99 up M2. It won't look the same but it will work. |

Yes a Over the frame will work on any tuber but a under the frame will only work on 99 to 2002 models. The seller said he ran it on his S3 and his profile says he has a 2000 S3. The potential buy has a 97 S3. If the rolls were reversed I would say ok But a Under can't fit on a over. When you have been workin on Buells as long as Bad and I have, then you can talk... There, fixed it for ya Bad |

Not tryin to bust balls, just don't wanna see someone get screwed. The pipe pictured looks like a 99 and up pipe. And the way Kooks were made would make it impossibe to fit a 99 and up on a 98 and earlier. |

Spidie, the 96 thru 98 pipes fit 99+ tubers. Just not the other way around. The older pipes on newer tubers just have the rear pipe going over the frame. If this pipe is meant for the older tubers(Pre 99) it will fit ANY tuber. |

That's what I have been saying Steve. Re-read the whole thread. Yes a Over the frame will work on any tuber but a under the frame will only work on 99 to 2002 models. } |

I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in: I have a kooks header/exahust for my 98 s3'. I am not sure the header is the same as the seller's but it does have the same coating. My header does have an 02 plug but it is sealed off. I had it for sale on BADWEB some time ago. Prior to posting it for sale, I called Kooks and spoke to someone with knowledge of the tube frame header/exhaust systems. He told me that the Kooks header was always the same design for ALL tube frames, and that someone (other than Kooks) must have added the 02 sensor port to my header. In addition, I bought my header/exhaust from someone who had an S2 I believe. I'd like to get anyone's feedback on this because based on the above posts I have conflicting information, and many of you have had much more experience with older (the best) buells. Thanks |

If this system was run on three different bikes, it must be a lot older than one season on an S3. Actually how old is it?...........Charlie |

I purchased the last exhaust system Kooks had in 2004 or 2005. I ran it on my 2002 S3T, which I sold. I put it on my 2000 S3 for a dyno run to see if it pulled as hard as previously tested on my 2002 S3T. To eliminate any confusion, problems or debate I will sell this to someone with a X1 or 99 and newer S3. If interested in BUYING the exhaust system please e-mail me directly, as I am not monitoring this post/thread any longer. For those of you that already have expressed interest to me directly I will be responding this afternoon. |
