Does anyone know if there is an enduro or a good bright set of headlights that can be had with the proper brackets to replace the stock ones on a 08 XB12X Uly? The factory lights are very poor. Easily over ridden. Using low beam and holding on the flasher for corners. Just not bright enough. Don't want to burn up wiring but gotta get something on there. I don't want to do major surgery here. Thanks in advance.

Check out the buelletinboard. There is a tip for changing the two wires in the harness to have both lights come on when on high. Its an easy fix, although it took me awhile to figure it out. Be sure to open the gate where the wires inter the wireing block.
It is also posted here, but I couldn't find it. Sath

Also look in the archive under the electrical section. It has the tips there too.

if you go on hidfoglight.com you can get hid light kits that have two bulbs and all the other things needed to have hid lights, I have them on my ulysses and are awesome, aerostich.com has hid lights and have one made for motorcross bikes and mount to the handlebars and if you go on the makers of these lights they have ones that can go on the helmet so were you look the lights go, check them out H I D is the way to go, only 35 watts and amazing light output, now thay are coming out with 50 watt lights but that would blind oncoming traffic I have to be carefull at night when using my highbeam as it is now, so check them out. the simple change to make that allows one light to stay on for low beam as normal and both beams when you switch to high for even better lighting.

There is a center bulb socket in the headlight unit of the Lightnings that is not used on the US models. It serves as a running light for the European models. The wiring for the light is already in place and can be switched out for the low beam circuit. There are four wires that are housed together in the harness for the headlight. The black is a ground, the yellow is low beam, white is high beam, and brown/yellow is for the running light. If you swap the yellow with the brown/yellow in the harness the running light circuit will now light the low beam and stay on all the time. The high beam circuit will no longer interrupt the circuit powering the low beam light.

i used a small allen wrench to push from one end, while pulling the other end with pliers. quickest mod i know.
the other option is to cut and re-solder the wires upstream of the 4-pin connector.

Please open the (lid) on the back, where the wires come in to the connector. Your doing the male end. I used a safety pin to push into the male end. Unwrap the electrical tape to have enough room to pull the wires out. It dosen't take any force, you just have to find the right way to put the safety pin or what ever you use into the hole. Can't remember whether it is the top or bottom while putting the pin in pull on the wire, it comes right out. Like I said no force is necessary.
