Have the avatars been turned off? It looks like none have shown up since sometime after 3:30 am (EST) Saturday. |

I noticed this yesterday morning. My computer sometimes does strange stuff like this, so I didn't think twice about it. But now, Everyone's is gone! Normally, it doesn't really matter. The only time I really found them useful is when scrolling through a long topic at Warp 9, with my wheel mouse, looking for a specific post.(how often??? not very) tank |

Avatars are gone for good, Too many folks had avatars that are too offensive for this family oriented board and would not remove them. Admin told me this on another post. I liked the avatars because it gave us some visual representation of who the names and words belong to. |

Color me stupid but I hadn't seen any "morally offensive" avatars. A couple of "suggestive" ones perhaps, depending on your POV, but certainly nothing offensive. I'd even go so far as to say that if you find a picture of scantily clad people offensive you've got way bigger issues than questionable morals. Don't be coming around my house w/ that kind of attitude, I'll bury you in the cellar w/ all the other J'ho Witnesses. Rob |

They're still around; you just have to peek "under the hood." Well, it was fun while it lasted. I guess I'll eventually change mine back to a more profile-suitable picture. Although, if you take the mask, cape, and light saber away from my picture, you've got a pretty good representation of my overall shape. |

I liked them, But like the above post some were a little less than desirable. Like Court have said in the past "If you would not leave it on your coffee table, then don't post it here" I think that what he said or something like it. |

On the other boards I am on, if someone has an AV that is too rude for use...he is told to remove it...if he doesn't the Admin removes him!! We don't pay for his sins! |

Was it a bandwidth issue? If not, I agree with Mutt and Charlie that avatars gave members some personality and made them easily identifiable. Smitty's right that all should not be made to pay for the (easily fixed) "sins" of a few. Apply too much control and pretty soon the premiere Buell board on the web will be a ghost town inhabited by 15 or 20 dittoheads, instead of a true forum where people exchange ideas and differences of opinion are accepted. My vote, unless it's a technical issue, is to bring 'em back. Jay |

Too many complaints from people who were concerned about getting into hot water at work. And to many jackasses who refused to abide by board policy. I don't have time to deal with it. Thank the jackasses for the loss of what I thought was also a neat feature. Rob, This is a family oriented discussion board, meaning it is intended to remain appropriate for people of all ages. Feel free to run your life however you wish. I'll do the same with the BadWeatherBikers.com. |

>>>"If you would not leave it on your coffee table, then don't post it here" That's close enough. Badweb is not "out behind the woodshed". I have clients walk in my office and Badweb is my "homepage". Some chicks cute that would be funny to you and I at any other time is not while M. Gershon has arrived to discuss finalizing an $880M contract. Court |

Er am I missing something here, people complained about getting into hot water at work? well I'd say that's their responsibility, not yours Blake. If you read this board at work (essentially a leisure activity in my view) & your company doesn't like it, that seems perfectly reasonable to me. I see no reason to change the board to satisfy 3rd party non users. That's like a trucking company taking the stereos out of all the trucks because they don't like the music some of the drivers listen to. Just my European take on it. Does nobody take responsibility for their own actions anymore? must everything be dumbed down because of this? It saddens me, it really does. |

"Some chicks cute ••• that would be funny to you and I at any other time is not while M. Gershon has arrived to discuss finalizing an $880M contract." I'm thinking, that setting my homepage to the badweb would not be appropriate for work, a$$ or no a$$. |

Less T&A = "dumbed down"? Interesting point of view...not sure I agree. |

I agree 100% with Mr Grumpy. Maybe dumbed down was not the best choice of words but I know what he means. It's more like sanitized and bland. Everything has to be sanitized so that there is no chance that anyone could be offended. But that also makes things a lot less interesting. I also agree that if people are complaining about getting into trouble at work then they shouldn't be reading BadWeb at work. It's their own fault. Simple as that. |

I like the personal touch of each persons icon. You shouldn't be reading at work anyway, if you are really doing a good job for your company... Bring them back. I don't remember seeing any obscene icons on the board. A pretty face every now and then, but they were clean. Bad Weather Bikers.....The only problem I have ever had is the word bikers. People on the street consider Bikers the 1 %'ers...and think when they see or hear about Bad Weather Bikers, we are a group of hoodlums. vrs. Motorcycle enthusiasts or riders. we live with that name, so a few nice icons with our messages wouldn't be bad. |
