I remember someone saying before and I Can`t seem to find it in the archives, about one colder heat range in these plugs that help them on the pinging plms.,Can someone tell me what the direct crossover replacement for the Buell xb12 plugs are in the Iridiums, and also what the next coldest plug group wd. be in them as well for the pinging plms.?? Hey thanks Fullpower your too QUICK :-) , is IXU27 just one heat range colder? And it is the colder one I wd. want to try if I get a pinging plm. Not saying that wd. help but..??? | ||

DCPR9EIX NGK is a direct replacement but one heat range cooler than stock and with a fine Iridium electrode. I think the price was under $7.00 each. xbolt12 | ||

If the bike isn't pinging on the stock plug is there any benefit to switching to the colder heat range? I ordered a set of the iridium NGKs in the stock heat range, I'll let you know how they work. Mike L. | ||

Yes and yes. However, I found that the CA fuel vent hose was rubbed though and that may have been leaning the bike out some. I have had zero problems with the cooler plugs and the bike runs great, so I am going to stick with the colder NGK. However, I do live in So California where the weather is warm most of the year, so I don't know how a colder plug would work with longer warm up times in cold weather. xbolt12 | ||

Doh! I got the iridium NGKs today, but they didn't come with the little cap that threads onto the top of the plug. I dug around the garage to find a set of old plugs to steal the caps from, but I didn't have any luck. I guess I'll have to go out and buy a set or something. Who'd expect a $10 spark plug to be missing a piece? Mike | ||

The part number I posted has the smooth post built in. If you go to NGK's site you can decipher all the numbers to get an 8 heat range Iridium that won't need the screw-on adapter. xbolt12 | ||

The "C" must be for the smooth post. The plugs I have are a DPR8EIX9. Where did you buy yours? I ordered mine through parts unlimited and they didn't recognize the DCPR9EIX number. Mike | ||

Also click on the link called "Manufacturer's Numbering System NGK" on the bottom of the right pane on the link below for the number scheme of these plugs. It does not tell you the tip type by number, but I noticed it does when you punch in the part number on the previous link I gave you. Also they are friendly and will help you on the phone with questions. Funny, I just backed up the directory and did a check on DCPR8EIX and it came up as recommended for Lamborgini Diablo  | ||

I just looked at the box in the garage and it even has a diagram on it showing that the tip is not threaded. You may have to specify that when you purchase the plugs-I can't recall, but the 2316 stock number is what they use anyway for the DCPR9EIX and that's also on my box. xbolt12 |
