During the BadWeb 20th celebration Outrider made up a great set of directions for a great ride. i was wondering if anyone else had any trips planned out on paper. I would like to collect a bunch and then build a webpage so other people could download them for free. | ||

Heck, I even have the jump on Hogsback set up in the right direction to allow those so inclined to get air but have a relatively safe landing zone. Then again, you may have done it. I did it originally for the 20th and submitted it again to both Brew City and Uke's for last years homecoming. Was going to redo the route to link Lake Geneva and Road America, but didn't bother as I already bailed on the group. Ta Ta for now. | ||

Best ride I've ever taken was a trip up to Estes Park in Colorado. If you are unfamiliar with Estes Park, it is the highest paved road in North America. Went up in July many years ago. If you make the trip, here are some things to be aware of. 1. The air is thin up there and it does affect the way in which the bike runs. Not sure how that would affect the XB with it being fuel injected, but there was a measurable loss of power from my Honda CX500. 2. Snowball fights in July. It gets cold up there so pack with that in mind. 3. Have you ever been caught in the rain at that elevation? I swear that rain water is just above freezing. I have never been so soaked and cold in my life. I was ready to throw the bike down several times. PACK RAIN GEAR. 4. There is nothing like looking over the side of a mountain as your cruising. That said, be alert and awake both up and down as there isn't much standing between you and a huge fall down. In fact, my buddy and I came across a guy in the ditch at the bottom of the mountain. He had fallen asleep at the wheel. If he had fallen asleep a few minutes earlier, he would have most likely been dead. | ||

PC...All good points. However, check out the first side I referred Koz to and you will see a plethora of routes in the US and Canada as well as a very comprehensive list of thing a sport rider can pack in a tank and tail bag. lol. I think I forgot most of that stuff. Heck, I borrowed my brothers military issue duffle, packed in some clothes, my helmet, leather jacket and was off. It was an eventful trip to say the least. First off, I ran out of gas at 2:00 am in the middle of nowhere. Laid the bike in the ditch and walked to a farm house. Scared the cr@p out of me when I heard several big old dogs barking. Luckily, the home owner was cool about it and had said folks ran out of gas near his house quite often. As I was making the trip from Fargo, ND to Denver, CO by myself, it was my intention to drive straight through. I stopped at a rest area and slept for about an hour on a picnic table on the way there. Looking back, that wasn't too smart. Did drive the entire trip straight through on the way back though. What can I say, I was young and stupid. I've found at this point that the furthest I can drive before nearly collapsing is from Richmond, VA to Minneapolis, MN. I've since learned to limit the distance. | ||
