i think there should be a st daves day, the patron saint of all stranded motorcyclists. 317 miles into a trip from mpls to milwaukee to appleton, the ulys starter button crumped out on me. the fool who i thought was a buddy that lived nearby, was "too busy" to help me out...did i already mention that i was 317 miles from my home, and 25 from his? anyways, daves, after working 11 hours, drives home from the shop, back to the shop to get a trailer, the 100+ miles to come pick up mys stranded ass AND THEN THE 100+ MILES BACK TO HIS APARTMENT. dude shows up with a smile on his face and after being stranded at a quick trip for 7.5 hours, with a couple hour respite at a coffee shop, he was a sight for sore eyes. we go back to appleton and get this, dude offers me a place to sleep in his spare bedroom. we roll in at 2330hrs or so and then i find out that after working the next day (in 8.5 hours)and after work, he has to drive for 6 hours. im feeling a little guilty and when i say a little, i mean i feel almost catholic with the amount of guilt i am carrying. long story a little longer, we go to the shop the next day and appleton harley is the FINEST shop i have ever been in...EVER. everyone friendly, everyone is competent...there are viking fans 50 miles from packer central (lamblow field). everything gets sorted out and the fat purple guy is on his way again. dave does 250miles, looses 3 hours sleep and has to put up with me in his shop for 7 hours. i was going to pay for the big ass tank of gas i used up and with gas prices the way they are, pulling a trailer, in an expedition id reckon 13mpg tops and the guy actually said no. WTF, OVER????? i end up getting him breakfast and as im running out to buy lunch the guy reaches into his pocket to get money for his food...come on now, its the least a guy can do is buy you breakfast and lunch. im thinking theres going to be a daves trackfund charity set up around here or something. coolest guy you can meet and he sells bikes like gas is up to $3 or something. dude move more product than al capone. whatever, its time to go test ride a used bike as i have a friend whos getting his first beater to learn on and wants an "experienced" (lmfao) guy along to look at things. chris 3274th member of the st daves fan club. |

Glad you made it home on Saturday Grim. I made it home about 9:30 Sat night. Great ride on the Uly and only hit a few rain drops. I was happy I could help you out and give you a place to stay. Like I told you, I have been the guy stranded on the side of the road more times than I care to remember. I come from the old Panhead and Shovelhead days when being stranded was just part of riding(at least on a HD). It was great to meet you in person. The only bad part in now I have even less parts on my demo XB12R. The exhaust went to Daytona with Hoban's and got crashed on Now I don't have a right switch housing cause it's on your bike. Oh well, no biggie, I'll just ride Terry's(my boss) Uly til they get my R back together. |

Hey Dave: If you add cornbread and maybe either boudin or chitterlings and tripe to the oakra, I can send you an RCA card. (Registered Coon Ass). Of course, the final exam is that you must suck the crawfish heads at a Cajun crawfish boil! Doug |

And through all that(I didn't know or I would've waited).. ...He still managed to get an order done for me! I vote we change his screen name to SUPERDAVES. BTW Dave, stay away from the okra...I got your back. That "vegetation" is the worst., Yes, I tried it too. It caused me to not try new stuff for a long time. |

St. superdaveS it is. when shall st. superdaveS day be? shall we have it around "talk like a pirate" day (sept 19th), or "no pants" day (1st friday in may)? send in your votes... edit: i forgot about "steak and bj day (mar 14th)", or the "cake and cunnilingus" day (april 14th), which is eerily similar to valentines day.
