Well I cut the cheese grater off the back end of my 12s today. It came out great! I even cut the part that holds the lic plate and screwed it back under the tail with the light for it intact. Heres my problem, I hooked the tail light, turn signals and lic plate light back up when I was finished but now they dont work. Another weird thing also my speedo wont do its sweep when you turn the key. The brake light works and the bike runs. I checked the fuses and can find nothing wrong. I am at a loss and dont know what else to try. Oh also the horn works too. Any help here guys would be great, thx! ART |

Weird. Sounds like... um... a bad connection, or a cut wire. If there was a simple short, the fuses should have blown. Perhaps there's a fuse somewhere else besides the fuse box? Like in the ECM or speedo? That shouldn't affect the lights, but I haven't reviewed the wiring diagrams either. My best guess is that while pulling on the connections you pulled another connection loose somewhere down the line. If you have a multimeter, check for voltage at the bulb. If there's voltage (12V), then you just ruined your bulbs, no problem. If not, change over to measure continuity (resistance: 0 Ohms = continuity; infinity Ohms = no continuity). Check continuity between the bulb socket and various places down the wire. As soon as you get to anything other than 0 Ohms, know the problem is between there and the bulb. (Note, continuity should be performed with ign off, preferably with the battery cable unhooked, but to each his own) |

Congrates on the lose of your cheese grader. It was pretty easy huh? When I cut off my grader I just drilled some holes under the taillight through the tail piece because if you notice the taillight fixture has a clear lens in the bottom for lighting up the plate on XB9R models. |

Yep I noticed the clear piece also. But to late! I'm very happy with the way it turned out. Just need to do some touch up on it and paint. A friend owns a body shop and he said he do it for a six pack lol. Just need to buy some smaller turn signals I saw at American Sport Bike. Art |

BIG Easy I HIGHLY recommend you get the tail powder coated!! I had mine painted, and the first time out, it was nicked to all hell, right down to the primer from the rocks being thrown up!! Powder coating is holding up excellent though. Just my 2 cents Bruce |

Have had a though for the use the "Cheese Grater". As this is perforated metal, why not make an intake in the top of your Airbox, use this to cover it (attach from the inside).. "single side air intake" would finish the job nicely, as it's already pre-formed. Or if your really R&D minded, locate some rubber seal strip, slip one side around the inside of the cutout the other side holds the removed "Cheese Grater", this would give a nice professional/finish. Fix down with some rubber sealant. Food for thought for all those unwanted "Cheese Graters". Cheers.. |

If you still want the said "Pasta Strainer" to knock down on the rooster tails in the wet you can just cover over the strainer with color matched plastic, fiberglass or CF insert.

That sounds like a good idea Briz. Except I already have 2 vents cut in the airbox right where the fuel goes in. You know what I think would look cool? I think they are called a hypercharger, not sure though. I've seen them on the cruisers and they have little butterfly flaps that open and close like a blower. Would be neat to see if you could hook one up to our xbs and have it sticking through the top airbox cover! I dontknow what they do for performance but sure would look great. Oh I also added some napoleon bar end mirriors, love them. Nice to have some I can see out of now. Art (Message edited by bigeasy on January 20, 2005) |

Bigeasy... The hyper-charger has been done and it DOES look nice. I'll probably be doing that myself . Hill-Billy motors sells a CF airbox cover that will mold right around the top of it leaving the upper ~2/3 of the flaps visible and a couple inches of the top as well. Looks killer if you ask me . |

A pair of hyperchargers at 45 degree angles partially buried in the airbox outer cover top/sides at like 10 and 2 o-clock would look very cool! |
