Just having a look over on my XB9SL and noticed the side stand has the bike sitting almost upright. Is there a was to adjust it so I might have bit of tilt to it when it's on the sidestand? Seems the service manual doesn't have this topic. Just don't want it falling over while it's parked...
TIA
Kaveman

is your front wheel rotated all the way to the left (rotate the handlebar counterclockwise)? That changes the tilt angle.

Kaveman,

Is it the original sidestand? Mine was replaced a while back and the dealership (bunch of bozos) put on a stand from a 12. The thing made my bike stand up straight. I put one on from a 9 and all is well again.

There's a different sidestand between the 9 & 12??
I know the 03 models have a different stand from the 04's & up and that the early 03's had a recall on their stands.

The XB9SL has a shorter side stand. If for some crazy reason you have a standard side stand instead of a side stand for a Low, this could answer this mystery. It's worth checking out. Measure your side stand. How long is it? I'm not at home now, so I can't measure mine. How about a little help from someone with a Low and a standard height XB... '03 perferably

Got it covered Fran_dog on the SL.

Hey Kaveman-

The side stand on my '03 SL measures approximately 9 1/2 inches from the middle of the bolt hole to the bottom of the ground plate. The regular S should be at least an inch taller than that.

Thanks for the input. I measured it and it's 9 1/2" from the hole. I will check with the dealer tomorrow to see if it needs replacing.
Tanks again for the input!

If you feel like your bike needs to lean more when parked, you can grind a bit of metal off of the stop on the sidestand. That allows it to go more toward the front of the bike when down. This will make the bike lean more. It doesn't take much grinding, so do a little at a time.
