hey wuts up everyone?

well nm over here i was looking on dennis kirk.com and i saw something called a shorty pipe and right now im running a str8 pipe on my buell quick question will the shorty pipe quiet my bike down just a lil please let me know thanx much bye

Buellcruiser,a straight pipe will rob HP on your Buell.Probably got a hole in the midrange from reversion you could drive a truck through.You need a muffler on there to get bike properly tuned.There are a ton of good mufflers out there,from the Buell race can to Vance and Hines.
Check the knowledge vault for muffler info and look at dyno charts.

but to answer the question, after experimenting extensively with a big evo sportster, i have determined that adding length to the collector of your straight pipe set-up will not make it any quieter. also it isnot exactly true that straight lengths of exhaust pipe reduce peak horsepower. you may well have a mid rpm dip in you torque curve wich you can move around by adjusting the length of your primary pipes. the collector length ,strangely, does not seem to affect the power band much at all.

There's a reason they call them "drag pipes" --because they make their power at rpms suitable for dragracing not street riding.And you can certainly tune the power by changing lengths,but it will still be in a narrow rpm band and not a nice wide powerband that you want for the street.I had open pipes on my bonneville bike and they made great topend power but the dip in the dyno sheet in the midrange was horrible.
