Working on the S1W revival project and hit a minor snag I wasn't expecting. I've got an X1 motor to base around, in decent shape, needs some TLC but nothing major. I've got the original* CV carb, and an original carb intake manifold. * Or so I thought. Turns out the carb is a CV44, so it won't work with the original manifold. Looking at the EFI manifold, boy, it sure looks damn close to the right dimensions... has anyone tried stuffing the CV44 into the EFI manifold? |

Poked at this a bit more, comparing the CV40 / S1W intake to the X1's and it looks like everything is right except the length of the carb/throttle body spigot. The X1 is setup for a throttle body that is shorter than a CV40/CV44 carb, so this potential quick hack is a non-starter. |

I think when people swap to the Mikuni carb, it uses some kind of adapter plate to mate the carb to the manifold. Maybe you can make something similar? just grab a 1/4" or 1/2" piece of aluminum, shape it to match both, drill and tap some holes? |
