I noticed Corbin has a seat for the Firebolt now. Does anyone have it and what are your thoughts? Corbin's website says it's for the '04 and later models, but won't it fit an '03 too? I didn't think Buell changed the seat in later models. | ||

Has anyone tried both the corbin and custom seat buell makes? Just wondering the difference between the two since I am going to be getting a seat soon. | ||

Corbin's seat, although more pricey, is a hand built seat. From what I understand, there is more foam than the streetfighter. I would have loved to see the Buell come with the streetfighter seat to begin with. But, understanding the aftermarket world, it makes since why. | ||

Wow, thanks for the heads up! I've been waiting for an R seat from Corbin for a while now. The shape looks quite aggressive and small (not a lot of space to slide around) but I'll trust that Corbin will make another well thought out quality product. My last bike had a Corbin seat and it was very comfortable on long rides. I just don't see what they're talking about with sliding downhill into the tank, that doesn't happen to me because the stock seat seems very flat. The main difference between the Corbins and the Buell custom is softness. Corbin claims their seat is twice as firm as the stock seat. In contrast, the Buell custom seat is way thicker and softer than stock. It's nice to have options. | ||

I'm not sure where I heard this so it could be wrong but I think you can call corbin and they will custom build the seat for you. Contoured, firm and soft where you want it. I think that's correct. Don't know how much extra if any it might be to do that. | ||

They used to have a deal where if you bring your bike to them they'll make a custom seat while you wait (might take a while!). But you need to get to their factory in California which isn't too convenient for most people. Now that they have a model for the R I'm sure they would be able to tweak it a little for a custom order. I'm hoping they will be at the motorcycle show here in February, they used to have 10% off any seat purchased at the show. I like how their seat has 4 rubber mounts so it should sit securely. My factory seat never fits in the little slot it's supposed to so I just bolt the rear down and the front flops up and down. | ||

I have the Corbin seat on my 05 XB12R. It is a great improvement over the stock seat. As with all Corbins it is very firm but is also a little wider and fits all the butt points very well. I have tried several different seats on various bikes in the past and have always come back to the Corbin. I just gave them a call and they custom built it for me in about two weeks. Cheers. I don't think that Corbin will go much thicker on this seat, since they use a stiffer foam. As in the stock seat, you have to fold the rear corner over a bit to get bolt access. With Corbin foam, done thicker, I'm not sure you'd be able to get the seat bolt in and out. I ahven't tried the XB-R corbin seat since we don't have a shop firebolt, but the corbin XB-S seat is a winner IMHO. American Sport Bike has one of the XB-R corbin seats in stock with the black CF look leather in the seating area, black nauga elsewhere here. That color/texture combination is proving to be the most popular by a significant margin, so it's the only one I keep in stock. Of course corbin will build one for you however you want it (per here. These days, build time is only a short 2 weeks or so. |
