Does anyone know if there's something CLOSE to quicksilver, in touchup paint? I've got a lot of little nicks and scrapes on my new-to-me S2T that I want to touch up. I have the paint code to mix up new paint, but most shops around here a) use water-base paint now, which doesn't do well as touchup, and/or b) only do touchup when they mix up to shoot and have leftovers. I just want to cover up the white gelcoat! The previous owner wasn't real careful with the tank cover screws and either jabbed the body with the screws, or the screwdriver, and there's some big sections of white... | ||

Try Duplicolor AFM0360 Touch-up paint. This is good and hold good. I say this code ( AFM0360 ) because it seems it's good on ALL gray things I have. I don't know how it is possible , but if used in small scratches it seems a Universal gray color. | ||

I'll give that a shot, thanks. Been trying numerous "charcoal" or "gray metallic"s, and they're all very...brown. Quicksilver has a blue tint to it, and normal silvers/charcoals have a lot of brown/tan in them by comparison. I had an old HD bottle of "blue gray metallic" and it filled small scratches well, but larger areas it's obviously a couple shades darker. Right tone...just too dark. I need to find a bottle I had for an old Shoei helmet, and try that. It was a Dodge color and was pretty close to the helmet, which I think was pretty close to the bike...of course, I'll find it, it'll be a dead match...and it'll be completely dried out. AMF Harley used DuPont Imron 44437 Ice Blue Metallic on the confederate edition bikes in 1977. Maybe that one is close? | ||

The color on the Confederate bikes (~1977-78) had more of a blue tint - I briefly had a Confederate Sportster. I have a 2013 Doge Ram, which is silver and might be close to the original Quicksilver. |
