Bought this bike recently, rode it 4 miles to the DMV to get VIN inspected, ran great. Fired it up to go home and it started sputtering, gaining and losing power, felt like it was gonna die. Limped it home but have no idea where to start? |

Download service manual for your motorcycle. Check for intake air leak and check throttle position sensor. I do not know if 2003 Buell XB service manual has this information though. You might need to Google if you can not find something in the manual. |

Typical XB vibration loosening bolts problem. When engine cool runs great but restarted. when warm, coughs, sputters and can fail to restart. This is annual preventive maintenance. Fix.... of leaks in induction tracts as fastened to cylinders. GET MANUAL!!. Evaluate problem..... Outside the engine, by spraying small short blasts of canned air-blast for cleaning electronics WHILE the engine is idling. Aim AT the intakes where they mount to the cylinders. Do not remove air box or spray directly into intakes, that defeats the test. Leave the engine buttoned up as normal. If the engine changes speed during the brief spray, then the seals /bolts need tightening or replacement, they are leaking. I do not recommend any other spray types. Try the test and order manual for bolt torque and coatings. |
