My advice is, vote for someone whose values and polices you agree with (not necessarily along party lines for the sake of party lines)...and pick the "new guy". They'll never vote for term limits (their own raises, they're fine with...but term limits for the good of the nation? No way...). So. WE have to. The same ol' people aren't doing squat for us, or for this nation. Time for new blood. Pick the new guy, whose values align with yours. | ||

In New York we used to have mechanical voting machines. At close of polls, the folk at the polling place unlock the back, read & write down what the mechanical counter read, then relock and put a seal on the machine in case of recount. Which just repeated the process, Plus the hand count of absentee ballots. The new ones in NY use optical readers ( the actual machines ) and everyone fills out a paper ballot. So both hand and machine recounts are possible. Procedure is fairly foolproof for in person voting. You are handed a paper ballot, fill it in in a portable privacy cubicle, and watch as the volunteer runs your ballot through the machine, which will alert you to errors before counting your vote. The machine might be hacked and change your vote, without your knowledge, but a recount should correct that kind of fraud. Mail in & absentee ballots get passed through the machines, in a separate location, and that's where the cheaters can unload trunks, trucks, and suitcases full of Fake votes, to fraudulently count, and throw ballots they don't want, into the dumpster. Then a hand recount may just verify the liar's fraud. Control over mail in ballots wasn't that hard back in the Old Days, like the 1990s. Only ballots passed through the Postal Service were accepted and an evidence trail existed, including 24/7 video. Drop boxes? Zero safeguards. Zero credibility. Zero trust. | ||

I vehemently oppose banning Huckleberry Finn in school for Every age group. A 3rd grader might not grasp the historical context. I did, but I'm not on the left side of the bell curve. But any literate teacher could help the stupid & ignorant as much as is possible. And you have to be pretty stupid not to understand the journey in the novel. The River is both metaphor and vehicle to put Huck through his dawning realization and growing up. You know, character development/arc. True, if you read the first chapters, and stop, you miss the message. Duh. Same with any well written novel. Same with the Bible. And I support sex, drugs, and sure, tolerance for different sexual orientation, in High School and Jr. High. Kindergarten, no. So my Opinion is mixed... As is the answers to the 2 questions. Because the "ban Porn in school libraries" crowd is perfectly willing, to talk about their concerns with you and adults, & don't seem to want to censor the opposition. And then there's the "age appropriate" argument that their opponents refuse to have. And the Groomer aspect. Because as willing as I am to get in your face to stop you banning Huckleberry Finn and Stranger In A Strange Land, I'm even more passionate about not tolerating child rape. So side A. Score? Evil.
