Admittedly I ignored my Uly last year, when I bought my Charger and spent all my fun time with it instead of the bikes... Anyway. So, start of the season I put a battery in it. Then my Kuryakyn voltmeter was showing 1 green...then no green...then only one amber...I had to replace the stator. Should be 52VAC at 2000 rpm; it was putting out EIGHT. Did that. F#(%ed up my clutch adjustment (old age, forgetfulness, sloppy work)...managed to sort that out. Lost a cylinder in the rain, found a plug wire boot that was torn, letting water in. Fixed that with some dielectric grease and heat shrink until I could get new wires. Now, I have a dead spot in the TPS - right at (naturally) cruise throttle position. Runs great when I whack it; idles smooth as ever. But, the 5% opening or whatever it is when I'm cruising...spits, sputters, coughs. Grrr. I have my '07 parts bike I can rob a sensor off of for now, but I'll need to buy a CMI Lite so I can zero it once its installed...(sigh) Guess I shouldn't have ignored it for so long. Who says bikes don't have personalities? |

Not me!! When you have a Harley it's nice to have a back up bike. I've been very fortunate. The Harley and the Buell haven't both been down at the same time!! |
