Lucked upon a race header, but no can. Just wondering if it's worth it to mount with the stock muffler, or wait for a matching race muffle to appear |

How do you plan on mounting the stock muffler, exit points on the headers are completely different. |

The automotive Supertrapp will slip right on. You will need to make your own rear strap, but that is easy. Expect it to last the life of the motorcycle. SuperTrapp S/C Elite Mufflers 443-2517 https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sup-443-2517 |

@Guell It appears to be the same to me. Can't really tell the difference between the stock header and race header to be honest. But I havent held the race header next to my headers mounted on my X1 to really compare. @89rs1200 Thanks for the recommendation! If I dont purchase a race can I'll look into this next for sure! |

The only one with a header outlet like the race header (rear-facing collector), is the 95/96 S2. That header was a 2" collector; the race header is 2.5". Any other tube frame Buell had a side-facing header collector, that ended in front of the oil filter - not facing rearward, under the primary. And, depending on year/model, the stock header could be either 2" (pre-Thunderstorm) or 2.5" (thunderstorm motor). The stock header on your X1 would be a side-facing, 2.5" collector. If it matches your race header one of two things is going on - either your X1 already has a race header with a rear-facing collector...or someone sold you a stock header with a side-facing collector and TOLD you it was a race header because it's a 2.5" collector. |

2 inch headers. Be careful because some sellers will advertise a X1 header with a 2 inch collector. I think most of the 2 inch come from Europe market. Dont know enough about that market to say anything about model application other than....use pictures. |

calling 1313 calling 1313, he may have some further insight on this subject, Rat is correct the standard X1 header ends pointing out not back the typical super trap ( later versions ) have a short raidus 90 at the in let end that mates to the header, IIRC the stock can does too. Early Super trap mufflers have a loose 90 piece and a flat end these should be avoided, as a get off may be brought about. |

I have a race set up on my S1W, 2.5 in collector rear facing. I just bought a race header and muffler on eBay that came off a 97 S3, so I assumed it would be a 2 in collector. Nope 2.5 in. I could have sworn I’ve seen a 2 in race header and muffler. Anyone know? Is there any harm in running a 2.5 in collector header on a lightning head motor? I would figure the opposite would be restrictive. (Message edited by williamscottrobertson on November 30, 2021) |

@Ratbuell Awesome, I really appreciate the detailed information. Looking at my bike header and the header I picked up, they are both stock. It's a 2000 X1. Luckily I didnt technically pay for the header, it came free with a seat and manual I got. The guy just threw it in to get it off his hands. So I have an extra stock X1 header, along with a few other things the guy parted with. (he used the bike only for the motor ) I'll post it in on the parts thread sometime. |
