Hi All, I'd love to add a top box to my '06 Ulysses, preferably with the option to add panniers later. So far all I've found is Happy Trails side pannier racks... Any suggestions? Thanks! |

You need the frame for the side racks to support the tail bag. |

I found this in ebay, but I haven't decided if I want a top case. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Buell-XB12-Ulysses-Tube-T op-Box-Carrier-Black-BY-HEPCO-AND-BECKER-2006-10-/ 153214327679?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286 |

Running just the top case can snap your subframe. You need the side bag supports to transfer some of the load into the rider/passenger pegs like Ourdee said |

I have the Happy Trails side racks which are pretty easy to install but I couldn't make the existing tail/top rack work with the side racks. The top rack came with the bike so I don't know its origin. I use Chase Harper soft bags with the HT side racks and that works fine. The HT side racks mount up solidly between the rear (passenger) footpeg support and the rear subframe and definitely will support any reasonable weight you want to add in the form of a top box. One thing to consider is that if the triple tail is in the up position you can't fully open the top case. If you have a passenger they will need to get off and lower the tail to open it. I ride solo and the tail is always down so it doesn't matter but just thought you should know. |

Thanks for all the replies! After thinking about it, I ordered the side racks from Happy Trails. I'm almost always riding with a passenger, so the triple tail is always up. I also don't want to add stress to the subframe when it's already carrying two well fed humans. |

Does anyone know how to remove & replace a latch assembly on a Hepco & Becker TC 40 case? |

As a follow up to my own question: the latch is removed by removing the weather gasket on the lower half of the case look for two #1 Phillips head screws remove them and the latch falls out. |
