Show Pink - Y or N? I will not change my avatar but I Accepted to post this: A couple days ago when I tried to log on to BadWeb, I got this Suspended Account notice. There has not been one post from any other member asking me to remove my avatar, in fact, every comment about my avatar up to this point indicated to me that people liked it. It's been up since the avatars started on this website. It's eye candy, a Buell-related babe pic. Who wants to see a boring pic of my white XB9R in the avatar? What about the VegasBueller pic, tell me you like that better than mine. And Spiderman with the two Hooter's chicks. Then there's the Grndskpr Dildo pic. The Heywoodjabuellme butthead pic was sickening, yet interesting and funny at the same time, but I guess it is gone because a couple people thought it was inappropriate. Then there was an avatar with the flag painted on three women with bare breasts, not sure whose that one was. So what are you going to do if some gun control zealot is offended about M1combat's avatar? I mean, who cares about assault weapons, this is a forum about Buells, right? No way Blake would make someone take down a gun avatar, I guarantee. And Road_thing in hell, someone might find it offensive too. Why not have a rule that says 'Only side shots of motorcycles (preferably Buells) filling the entire frame with a plain background may be posted on this website'?? Boring.... I've been warned about my posts that challenged Blake and his supporters' political ideology and had some removed; I experimented with curse words in the alternate text of a pic to see if they would get "red-dashed" (they didn't) and was warned about that. This being at least a third warning, I suspect being banned is next for me. For the twats who whined to Blake about my avatar, why didn't you just ask me first? I would have politely, OK maybe not so politely (depending on how you asked), told you 'No, I won't change the avatar' then I would have told you that your browser probably has features that allow you to block images so you don't inadvertently stumble upon anything offensive or you might want to try net watching software. You find my pic offensive, but you take children to the motorcycle show, or auto show, or bike races or H-D dealerships, ball games, movies, etc. and see nothing different than my pic. Motorcycles are sexy, and that's part of the attraction to a majority of us!! Bikes and babes (hunks, for the females) are part of the whole experience. A Buell web community that wants Riders of Buells to be Politically Correct. What is the deal with that? Thanks. Mike. |

I think as long as it isn't a bare breasted or spread eagle nudie, then i think it should be allowed. Cause if your avatar is banned than so should others, I Don't think any should be banned unless they are VERY offensive. The world today is getting that way, everyone is easily offended, I mean WHAT THE HECK!?!?!?!? get over it, either laugh, enjoy, or don't look and go home.. that be my 2Cents worth.. and there was no bashing intended if anyone feels i bashed...

You seem to be under the delusion that this board is some kind of a democracy. The owner of this board made a judgement call here, that's his right. Whether you or I or anyone else agrees or disagrees with it is irrelevant. Fighting it and attempting to drum up support for your cause shows a hell of a lack of respect for the fact that this is his board. You think I agree with everything he does? Do you think anyone agrees with everything he does? What gives you the right to tell him how to run his board? Shouldn't you just go somewhere else if you disagree that strongly? |

I agree with you blackbelt I enjoyed that pic but its not my website. I think this has been covered in other threads about being in someone elses house and respecting their rules. Its not as if there was an election process to determine who runs this site. We are free to come and go or start our own if we dont like the way things are done here.(at considerable time and cost to keep up such a site) No offense xb9er just my thoughts, and hell its just a picture not worth arguing over. All good things must come to an end. To bad it had to be hers!! I shall miss you pinky. |

As Aaron correctly states, our host, who graciously allows us access to his house, has made a request -- whether I find your avatar objectionable or not (I don't, but it does skirt the oft-quoted "I'd like the board to be suitable for my family" guideline) is a moot point -- it ain't my house Dunno why this is so tough to grasp -- I suspect you do not wish to grasp it, mistaking the guidlines clearly posted as censorship, chanting "Attica, Attica," while telling folks how you feel fair enough -- you've expressed your opinion, which is as valid as anyone's, with one exception -- Blake's while I, too, bemoan the political correctness that has infected our society as a whole, and do not by any stretch of the imagination agree with all the moderators on every topic, I do try to be a welcome guest -- I suggest you do the same |

Yeah, Pinky will be missed, but it's Blake's site. I don't necessarily agree with him all the time either. If you ask me, I say it points at one of the main problems in our society... The fact that everyone feels they have a right to step on anyone elses toes when they get a little offended. Personally, I say if it offends you, Don't look... I'm not the one who HAS a say around here though, and judging by what this site is all about and the sheer quality of it... That's fine by me. |

Although I didn't find the pink pic to be offensive (the offensive part was she wasn't on my bike!), I have to go with Aaron on this one. It is ultimately Blake's board and he can run it as he chooses. Just remember what you get out of the badweb before you get pissed at him for taking your avatar away or censoring colorful language. If the information and the people you've met here aren't worth your frustration with Blake then it is time to move on. I wouldn't think that would be the case. |

Just an opinion, but the high standards Blake is implementing is for our own collective good. I personally don't want to have either my family or my co-workers walk past my computer screen and see certain things. It's bad enough I just got busted for goofing off on the BWB, I sure don't want to add to the problem with Foxy Ladies, dead people, etc. In fact, to take that one step further, I really don't want to read about or see the pics of anyone's accident nor do I want to read about any one's personal business or medical problems. That's your business, not the world's. |

Your avatar wasn't in bad taste at all. It nothing that isn't seen in advertisements anywhere. I think the whole thing is really funny. I read thread after thread on how "bad" some of the folks think they are, meaning breaking laws, endangering themselves and those around them with their antics. A classic example is the recent Deal Gap video where the rider crosses the double yellow lines and passes two cars at once on a curve. Cool move, yes, legal, no. At least I don't think it's legal where I live and ride. There have been countless threads where folks are having full blown arguments over who has the best riders. Voicing opinions is healthy. One should learn to hold back before it gets into contest that no one wins. The best lately that should have been pulled is the BMW bashings. It sounded like a bunch of 8 year olds in the park saying "my daddy can beat up your daddy". That should have been nipped in the bud from its onset. 9er it is a good picture and should be re-installed to your avatar. The work of the custodians is very important to the operation of this forum. Unfortunetly it sometimes becomes self-serving, a personal agenda. Enjoy the forum for what it is. A place to share information as well sharing the passion of what we ride. |

As many have said, this is not a democracy. Blake was very polite in his message to you and i can see no reason for you to be so upset. He could have just removed it and not said a thing to you. I know websites where you probably would have been put on probation (you can read all the forums, but you cant post) for anywhere from 1 week to 1 month if an admin didnt like your aviatar. And for posting something like this? You would be banned. So i would say that we are given quite a bit of leeway in what we do here compared to many other places. Remember, this is Blakes house. If he didnt want you to smoke in it would you bitch to everyone else about it? |

Then there's the Grndskpr Dildo pic Time out, Dildo, is a location i have been, its was a trip that i took along with several other Buell riders from this site, it was an epic adventure of over 5500 miles that was done for no other reason than to hang out with some great people from this board, i am proud of that pic anf the fact that i was able to make the trip and enjoy the time i had, as well as help out a fellow bueller in his time of need, its a real location, a city as a matter of fact, and i think most people realize this However what bothers me the most is that you brought me into this problem, i mean if you have a problem with the avatar being displayed, fine, but dont bring other people into it, its your problem with the admins, not mine, so please leave me out of it, i have no desire to be part of this in anyway thanks R |

Wow...and to think I wasted the morning riding a motorcycle. The collective intellectual firepower present insures we could debate this ad nauseum. I tried to make it simple with my "Court's Test". I think that's important here for some reasons that I feel benefit all of us and that have taken other good boards down. Blake was courteous and polite. I'd prefer to see this group debate which stops an S-2 best dual rotors or a single rotor. WAR GAMES: The only way to win, is not to play the game. Court |

What about adding an "ignore" link under each avatar that can be clicked to hide that user's avatar? It's a simple solution to build and integrate. |

Believe it or not, I used "Court's Test" and in my mind the image I chose passed that test. It says "Some users were put off by it." I wasn't deliberately trying to offend anyone but to be locked out until I clicked the "I Agree" button when I didn't agree isn't right in my opinion (I know, my opinion doesn't count in matters of this nature..blah..blah..Blake's house..blah). Admins couldn't just let it go, I got a few interesting comments about it, had a few laughs over it, then I thought it was getting old. I was a couple days from changing the picture anyway with a new pic of my bike. Mike. |

Blake's board, Blake's call, he was very nice about how he asked even. I'm not much for assault rifles if it was my board the girl would stay the rifle would go...but it's not so that's the way it is. |

"If I don't like something I will say so. That's just the way I am." Stop to consider for a second that everyone has some disagreement about how the board is run. That's inevitable, we're like people that way. But not everyone whines about it. Why is that? Hell, this little gripe is nothing compared to mine. But in the end, I understand that he makes the call, and the mature response is to either respect his right to do that or to go away. |

>>>Hell, this little gripe is nothing compared to mine. As they say in the Mink business....."Word the stoles right out of my mouth". I like it the way it is...."My Way" wouldn't be perfect either. I willing to accept, that as part of a group, there is a degree of give and take and that serves the COMMON good. I was in a meeting last week wherein one of my associates, arguing that we be paid $174 extra to move a box on a $5M project, told the client to "pay it or be sued". If you had a client with $1.5B to spend in the next five years would you, for $174, tell them to stuff if where the sun doesn't shine? Frankly, right or wrong, I would have capitulated. But then...I'd be working for them now instead of being employed by a "former" contractor. My way or the highway.....generally results in the highway. Court P.S. this has HUGE applications in the world of Buell Customer Service. I often give the tie to the customer. I'm working with one now where the doctrine of contributory negligence comes into play. Part of my support logic for helping will be based on future business, not what is, strictly by the book "right or wrong". Just a thought. |

Damn Aaron, why don't you post more often? Just to put myself firmly in the minority, I didn't like the pic and I would not be able to surf BadWeb at work if avatars like that were allowed*. (*not true, we have 5'6" cube walls and my screen doesn't face out, but you get the idea) |
