I bought this bike about 4 months ago and I was told that it runs for about an hour. The guy thought that it might be the Rotor/Stator causing the battery to be drained-it died on him on the road after about an hour. I got it home and started looking into it. Tested the resistance on the rotor wiring and everything checked out. The bike would start and run for about a minute before it petered out and died with the battery drained. I decided to go after the voltage regulator as it might be the issue. It's sitting on the charger right now but I'm starting to feel like admitting defeat and taking in to HD. Am I barking up the wrong tree with the voltage regulator? Any advice is much appreciated. -Cyclone Currie |

I don't know if you guys are good luck or something but I just went out and started her right up. Gas is old in there but she didn't mind too much. I did have a bit of backfiring through the carb if anyone has thoughts on that. I'm grinning from ear to ear! |

K.I.S.S principle,if its charging it should keep running unless battery is r/s[put jumper leads of a car etc,the fuel is old, change it,.I have had stators go,but you dont get charging then,i just charge mine up every few days as this stators buggered too if its still playing up exchange bits with your mates its basically a sportster motor,if you sort it out yourself then you will learn,I keep away from every shop[as they charge you even if they dont know and even when Buells were still being sold,Australian m/c shops didnt want to know about Buell, cheers pete,,,,,K.I.S.S principle Keep It Simple Stupid. |

As mentioned, replace the fuel. Fresh gas can make a difference. Hook up your multimeter, then start the bike. If it shows 13.5V - 14.5V above 2k RPM, the charging system is fine. If the battery is more than 3ys old, have it load tested. It may be on its way out. And kind of a wild card, confirm the fuel tank vent is not clogged. Hope this helps, Dave |
