Anybody notice a seepage or fine coating of oil near and on fittings to cooler? re: 2004 12R 600 miles

You will get a little bit around the fittings, as long as its not dripping you are OK

It isn't that difficult to completely (relatively speaking) prevent the seepage, is it? I don't see that on many brands of bikes. How do they do it then... arrgh. I'm having buyers remorse or what...

Are you sure its oil?
What I at first thought was oil turned out to be TINY flakes of worn off tire material.
To make it even more confusing it would stick to only the hotter of the two lines and just at the connector.

mine came loose during break in. just tighten the lines up a little bit.since i did that haven't had a problem.got almost 13k on the bike now.

Same as Lone XB here... I snugged them up alittle and the issue went completely away.

I had some dirty residue at the oil cooler fittings showing just before the 1,000 mile service (probably there long before, but just getting darker), didn't tighten the fittings, just sprayed degreaser on it to check for leakage and it has gone away and hasn't returned. That was over 1,200 miles ago.

Same here, it was there right around the 1000 mile mark, I just cleaned it up and it seems to have gone away.

May sound funny but its true. Saw it on one fitting just after one of these oil on fitting threads and thought me too. Wiped it off, checked the fitting which was tight and then took a REAL close look at what I had wiped off. Dry tire flakes. Hot connector just hot enough for it to stick to. Right where the tire can fling it. These tires go away fast and they don't just evaporate as you ride

MINE STARTED SEEPING FROM 90 DEGREE FITTING ON MOTOR BEHIND HEADER. CHECKED LINE AND IT IS SNUG. TRIED TO REMOVE FITTING AND TEFLON TAPE MYSELF BUT WHEN I STARTED TO TURN IT OUT THE FITTING HIT THE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH. TOOK IT TO DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY HAD TO ROLL THE MOTOR FORWARD.THEY HAD IT FIXED WHEN I GOT BACK IN TOWN A WEEK LATER. I RODE IT FOR THREE WEEKS AND NEVER HAD TO PUT OIL IN IT. THAT IS HOW LITTLE IT LEAKED. BIKE HAD ABOUT 7,000 ON IT AT THE TIME.
