I've had to remote area breakdowns due to fuel pump/FI problems. I'd like to can the FI and put a carb on. Does anyone have experience with this? |

A bunch of X1 guys do. Here's a discussion from 2008... http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/326412.html?1206659027 I am not an authority by any means but is is my understanding is that the later x1's FI systems were much improved. Good luck! |

Man not sure what the issue is. The FI has been rock solid for me. A bad engine temp sensor will run your motor . foul plugs and strand you. But its easy to check for. Get the bike to 120 degrees. Make sure the temp reading stays steady and climbs if no fan. If temp jumps around and is erratic then the sensor is bad. The Moco will tell you replace all 5 major sensors every 5 years. TPS Crank O2 Air and engine. My 01 got a bad temp sensor replaced. I replaced the crank sensor once out of precaution but I am sure the Crank sensor also turned to shit or was questionable at some point. Hard to see the the TPS sensor flaking out as its a reg automotive part. The air temp sensor doesnt seem to fail either. The crank and engine temp sensor, the ones in the heat. Those are going to shit on you. (Message edited by victory on November 07, 2020) |
