Took off the old bodywork on my S2. Have freshly painted bodywork to go on. I see there are no rubber washers between the tail piece and where it sits on the frame. I would think there should be some cushioning. Also all the rubber pieces to where the front fairing joins the frame are worn or falling apart. Would like to renew all well nuts. The plastic gas tank had a piece of cushion duct tapped on the front, in front of the gas caps. Any tips to preventing cracks? What is best practice for mounting the bodywork? you'd go broke buyin replacement grommets at HD.. Find a grommet kit online if you want pretty.I use slices of different size/type hose and make pads from old inner tubes..Be careful where you go for well nuts. They can be had cheap online like the grommets but some sellers will gouge you for them.My FXRT and FLT use them and I found some outrageous prices. They are just as generic as rubber grommets |
