The new Angel Has Fallen movie, Iranian proxy attacks of Saudi oil facilities, the ongoing war in Ukraine, and on Israel, show drones as a increasing threat.
The FICTIONAL versions are chilling.
But a simple search for drone terror on YouTube shows many real world examples, if not as sophisticated as the short film above.
It's only a matter of time before there is an assassination attempt on a politician in public.
My first thought when this news came out that it was propaganda from the anti-vape industry.
I'm used to the anti-pot industry, that has been pushing false hysterical lies since I was a child. And changed sponsorship during the Clinton administration from primarily right wing moralists to a very high percentage of drug cartel money.
Now, the anti-drug movement has ALWAYS been a mix of Church moralists and Drug dealers who want Prohibition to continue, to maximize profits. The balance of the team just changed as Church moralists lost numbers in the general population ( undeniable fact, and a worthy subject for discussion separate from this ) and the Drug Cartels spent hundreds of millions in bribes to keep drugs illegal & profitable. ( anyone remember Clinton renting out the Lincoln Bedroom to big donors? Including a Columbian Drug Lord. )
This is not to say the anti-drug movement was pure lies. There are reasons to fear the side effects of recreational drug use, there are bad health side effects from breathing smoke of any kind, and the "gateway effect" is very real. Not that smoking a joint in high school turns you into a crack head by some medical or magical means, but contact with criminal activity offers opportunity to access other illegal drugs, & the lies in the anti-drug propaganda machine breeds contempt for hypocritical law enforcement & authorities.
Lest you think this is a rant from a pot head activist, it's exactly the same social forces as Alcohol Prohibition and the rise of organized crime, the Booze Lords like Kennedy ( they used different language, but same thing ) and moralist and criminal collusion to gain power & profits. The prison industry, lawyer industry, do-gooder industry, and Centralized government power activists all profit off recreational drug Prohibition.
In fact, the history of the United States shows the repeal of Alcohol Prohibition immediately became the early Drug Prohibition movement as thousands of government jobs & power bases were at stake.
Thus...
I automatically assumed the anti-vape movement was the same mix of propaganda lies, real concerns, criminal profit protection, and government power greed, as we've seen for a Fracking Century. When one vice gets legal, another must be demonized to take it's place.
And I don't think I'm wrong in that analysis.
But I don't vape. I'm already a nicotine, & caffeine addict, not to mention the other drugs prescribed over a lifetime of treating my body as an amusement park instead of a temple. ( to be fair, lots of the damage is work related )
So spending money to buy into a new recreational drug technology wasn't on my radar. Any idiot can predict health problems with vaping.
But while I'm pretty solid on my history & assumptions, I was wrong that this latest news was just propaganda.
It's chemical & biological warfare.
Chinese government ( they are into every aspect of the export market ) asymmetric warfare against us.
During the Clinton administration, it was container loads of Chicom AK fully automatic assault rifles imported to California for the criminal drug gangs. During Bush the Younger's, it was heroin. During Obama's began the fentanyl epidemic/attack, and... Now...
Bootleg poison Vape cartridges.
The Red Chinese continue as the most murderous dictatorship in human history, and they are at war.

I don't smoke. Never touched drugs. I find enough trouble at the bottom of a whisky bottle! Recently the doctors instructed me to cut out caffeine (irregular heartbeat, and a kitchen-floor collapse, brought that on). I cold-turkey'd that.
When I had my bad accident in '08, they had me on dozens of mg per day of narcotics. Sent me home from the hospital (after 12 weeks) prescribed for 3mg a day. Detox sucked. After a talk with my doc, I cold turkey'd those as well - 36 REALLY hours, but that was much preferable to being hooked on that crap, and the numbness/fog that went with it.
With my CCW, I have also cold-turkey'd drinking while out as well.
It can be done - I have an addictive personality, I'm fully aware of that, and if *I* can do it...anyone can. It takes work, but it can be done.
All that said - as soon as vaping took the spotlight, something in my head said "uh-oh...this is bad news".
We know cigarettes are bad for you - and we also know their manufacture and their ingredients are pretty well regulated and there's next to zero chance to "mess with" their chemistry.
Vaping?
What the HELL is in a vape? Who regulates it? And, how easy is it to circumvent? Consider - you want to "infect" a batch of cigarettes. You have tobacco...you have paper...both of which are pretty easily traced and tested as well as being tightly regulated. Now..you want to mess with vape? It's a liquid. Infinitely easier to mess with. And, there's the packaging, as well as the delivery devices. In a relatively-infant industry. Controlled by...whom, at this point? And we're seeing the consequences of having created a brand new class of vice for our society..."unknown" illnesses, child-targeted advertising, and deaths.

Hey, I'm curious about how the self driving feature works on a Tesla. Will it navigate around town, with stop lights, yield signs, and stop signs, or is it only able to drive down the highway?

Currently, it will drive on freeways, make lane changes to pass slower traffic, and take interchanges to transit from one freeway to another.
The hardware for full self driving is included in all current cars. The software that makes traffic sign recognition possible for autonomous driving has not been released. My understanding is that 99% of driving situations are solved, but the millions of situations that represent the remaining 1% are a challenge. That software is currently in alpha testing by Tesla employees in their personal cars. I am in their beta testing program, and have the latest build. It has some interesting features.
I recently drove from Houston to Dallas and back. I did have to stop to charge. I took the opportunity to eat at a nearby restaurant, since it was dinner time, and the car completely charged while I was eating. On the way home, I stopped at the same charger for ten minutes and watched a couple of youtube videos on the infotainment screen while I waited. It was a nice break. Made it home with 20 miles to spare. Took about 4 hours to charge back up at home, but, no big deal, I was asleep. I am still enamored with the car. It is crazy fast. I don’t think I will ever get used to the acceleration. Incidentally, the charging at the superchargers cost me exactly zero dollars. It’s not entirely clear to me why that was. Model S and X owners get free charging, but Model 3 owners do not, supposedly. Not sure why I didn’t get charged. I read conflicting things online. I should probably just call and find out.

I was about to overtake a semi after having changed lanes to pass it (on auto pilot) when the driver of the semi turned on his left turn signal. My car immediately slowed to stay behind the truck. It waited until it became apparent that the truck was not changing lanes, then it accelerated rapidly to pass the truck, and moved back over out of the passing lane. It is watching 360 degrees around the car in radar, sonar, and visual. It never gets distracted. It never falls asleep. It never drinks and drives. I think this technology, once developed, will save thousands of lives every year. I never thought I’d say that, but having seen the technology first hand, I’m optimistic.

Highway cruise only on current models. I think. ??
I haven'y tested the new Toyota system on an empty highway yet, but it doesn't seem to have real lane holding capacity. VW does, or did, in 2014, have lane holding cruise on the top end cars.
I was considering a Phaeton. The W 12, of course. Why? Real luxury, performance, under rated, power, a 12!, and ridiculously over engineered. Did you see the trunk hinge? Dang. German over engineering luxury, and because the badge on the front said VW, and not the BMW propeller or Mercedes star, actually affordable, used, on the U.S. market.
But... not repairable without specialized computers & tools. So I asked the VW mechanics at the dealer what they thought of the W 12, mentioning I was looking at a Phaeton, and all but one warned me not to. That one encouraged me to buy one, since he wanted a new boat.

My car will self drive on surface streets, making any corner that comes along. It does NOT recognize stop signs or lights. That feature has not been released. It will slow and stop for cars in front of it.
Someday, a small handful of remnants will reference things like Cpt America - Winter Soldier, and 1984, and Terminator, and the Bible, and say, "We should have seen this coming". Anyone who is "woke" sees it coming. The problem is, half of America does not care for the individual liberty that our Republic provides. They only see the mass compliance and rainbow stew that a socialist commune "provides". It's only a matter of time. Evil is more powerful than good, for Satan is the prince of this world.
I'm not agreeing with this guy's diet advice, but I do agree on food fad science bull.
My opinion is that half the hardening of my arteries is because some bribed pseudoscience shill pushed the "margarine is better for you than butter" scam. Or mistake, if you are less cynical.
I limit my consumption of red meat because I have gout. Not because cow farts dissolve the celestial sphere. Good to know it's no longer bad for people, just Evil in the eyes of Cultists.
Ditto coffee, and ...( Long list )
Anyone remember Olesrta? Best appetizing side effects listing ever!
