Lots in this editorial play into the lie that is "weapon of war" "automatic" etc. Accepting the lie that "we are only after X and not Everything" just plays their game. Their game is rigged. Don't play it.

Please continue to educate those around you, but don't expect truth to matter to those that willingly lie.

I switched over to the Guard Dog 105 grain for the time being...and even in a single-stack polymer compact, it's a noticeable weight difference. Or I'm imagining it.

I do keep the Critical Defense in .38, for household use...

I love how everything in the media is shoehorned into a "stand your ground" thing. No, if teenage thugs are shooting at you with the intent of murdering you and your family before robbing you, all bets are off. The guy did what he had to do. I've dealt with young gang members at my old shop. They're a different breed altogether. They don't live by the same rules or standards as you and I certainly don't place much value in their lives or anyone else's.

The mass media loves to portray these jackholes as products of society...but ultimately they're a product of the culture that bred them...which they're all too willing to glorify, condone, and excuse.

Ultimately the intent is to make self defense verboten and eliminate those tools most suitable. A timeless quality of those intent to impose their will by force over the populace.

So far in some states they have taxed things to death, imposed arbitrary magazine limits, made modern semi automatic rifles look stupid and handle awkwardly, made private sales without a federal background check illegal, and require background checks or special permits for ammo purchases. What any of that has to do with stopping crime or saving lives (as is the selling point), I don't know...but the useful idiots swear it's true.

That's the victim mentality - you have NO RIGHT to stand up for yourself. How dare you? They're only doing what they do to you, because they're oppressed/downtrodden/in the body of the wrong gender/confused/poor/homeless/addicted. It's not THEIR fault...it's YOUR fault, because you're privileged and have all this "stuff", and you can easily live without it in the name of helping the downtrodden...

There's plenty of self victimization going on out there...all of those falling for the social programming that tells them that their poor choices and attitudes are somebody else's problem. Sorry. You may be born free, but you're not born free of the consequences of a lifetime of bad decisions and a garbage worldview.

Ultimately though, what difference does anything make? I mean if the universe is destined for complete and total death, subatomic evaporation, not a spec to testify to our existence, just complete and total oblivion, then on what basis do we claim anything good, bad, evil, unjust, etc?

If as Richard Dawkins says, "there can be no good, no evil, just blind pitiless indifference, nature red in tooth and claw", then it is mere opinion predetermined through material predestination, utterly meaningless and without objective purpose.

Delusion isn't a basis for objective morality.

My hollow points are filled with philosophy, and my propellant is inescapably theological.

We make our own meanings, based on our own experiences, challenges, and the value systems we've established through a lifetime of practical application.

There are those with no such qualities...and their outcomes and experiences are often less than positive.

The former should be unrestricted in their ownership of personal weapons and the laws concerning them liberalized for them. The latter is the reason we have them.

As an aside, last weekend I witnessed an entire congregation spontaneously break out in tears. The next time I filled my tank to capacity resulted in the numbers 7.77...which had never presented itself in eighteen years of pumping tanks of the same capacity. Surely coincidental.

The scenario I'm afraid of, and I believe we saw this after hurricane Katrina, is that the police would go door to door and take your guns. That's going to be difficult to defend when it's you against 20 police officers.

You smile politely and cooperate according to the law. They should have a warrant, and you fight it in court like any innocent law abiding citizen. If they don't have a warrant, then you sue the pensions off everyone involved. AFter. After they leave and you are no longer in danger of being murdered by a terrified bully.

Because the editorial Ducbsa posted is right. Only a small minority of oath sworn protectors will obey. They aren't Sheepdogs, they are Wolves in dog's clothing. Jackals, really, the metaphor isn't perfect.

That means your life is in great danger, anyone who shows up to rob you "by force if necessary" is a bully & a coward. Behind the black mask and body armor is a very frightened man child. Probably sadistic, and certainly pumped up in terror and simultaneously pumped on wicked enjoyment. That's a terrible combination to be facing you holding a gun.

Be polite. Calm. Record everything you can, write down names, everything, but not until the crazy men with guns leave.

Yesterday I spent some time with real full auto weapons. The first was a converted G17. It's not as unruly as lore suggests. It's controllable if you have the trigger control to maintain three round bursts. It took one burst to get the hang of it. It's one of the funnest things I've ever fired. The other was a full size UZI. It was smooth shooting and I was able to dump half the magazine into a silhouette with a single miss. It ought to be controllable as it weighs 9lbs. As much fun as they are...I have no use for such things, personally...though do believe the machine gun registry should be opened up...shall not be infringed and all.

While Colt has been a failure in doing anything innovative in the AR market for decades...the LE6920 has been a staple for some time...and their 9mm carbines have been a steady seller as well.

While Colt has been a failure in doing anything innovative in the AR market for decades...

To be fair, in one way, they can't. Mil spec is mil spec and the contract to our government for M-16's is for the chosen, frozen, improvement, as the customer demands.

Is that "state of the art"? Nope. It defines the standard, there's a difference. Could Colt have made Premium ARs with better materials? Sure, but others do that.
I doubt they'd get much credit for offering race guns, since pundits would complain they offered better different more modern guns to the Rich Gun Collector and cheated the military. The civilian offerings had, before this Virtue Signalling Bull, not a terrible gun in the bunch. You bought a Colt because it was the Same as the military version, at heart. It had a pony. That meant something.

That they got a premium price, too, is market, and marketing. It seems they couldn't sustain sales for "regular" ( mil spec, real mil spec, not hype ) rifles at Premium rifle prices. It's probably not a "Wrong" decision from a business perspective to suspend production of civilian models until & unless the demand goes up again so that people will spend stupid money for ANYTHING AR.

It's the choice of someone in management to tie in a change in product line to pretend Virtue that angers me. IIRC, they did a similar thing before, with hand guns. That too was a political move, possibly to make sure they kept getting those government contracts. I have some sympathy for the pressure they must be under, but I also know a little about Colt and their dependence on big Government contracts in history, and it can, and has, bit them in the butt. Alienating their loyal customer base is very unwise. And Colt has loyalists that would never buy a Kimber or Springfield 1911 "clone" ( say that last word with loathing ) it has to be the Real Deal or nothing. It doesn't matter if you agree with them, or the merits of their argument, brand loyalty transcends logic. ( where am I posting again? the Generic Motorsickle Forum? }

I could be wrong about motivations, and may be reading this all wrong, so I'd be happy to hear that I'm wrong on this whole mess, and have no need to be Pi^%ed off.

Colt's CEO appears to be lying.

The Colt police/law enforcement products include models that are/were also marketed and sold to civilians.

The CEO claims that Colt will still produce products for law enforcement, but not for civilians, in order to focus on their core products.

The Colt 6920LE (the "LE" denoting "Law Enforcement") is a very popular civilian product as well as standard issue for many precincts' and sheriff's deputies' patrol vehicles, and SWAT teams.

Just a few years ago, you could purchase one at Walmart.

If Colt continues producing that and other semi-automatic LEO firearms that were also previously sold and marketed to the public at large, then the CEO is a bold-faced liar, and he ought to be called out on it.

And all free States, counties, and cities ought to immediately cease doing business with Colt unless/until they revoke their policy infringing upon the right of the people to keep and bear arms.

Write the president and your federal representatives and senators asking that they do the same for all federal contracts.
