Measuring Ac output of the stator nets 3 v AC at idle and 14 at 2000 rpm. The resistance test between both stator wires nets open circuit.I'm assuming one winding has gone bad. Thoughts? |

Did you test for AC voltage & continuity with the stator disconnected from the regulator? That would remove any possibility of a bad regulator interfering with the testing Otherwise, it sounds like a bad stator. AC volts are supposed to be higher than that If for any reason you decide to rewind instead of replace, the Honda crowd seems to have a better handle on how it really works, compared to most other places. Getting more lighting power out of a dirtbike charging system has been one of my interests in the past |
