Hey, I wanna add a led strip light to the area under the reflector on my top case . I don't want to modify the wiring if possible so I'm hoping to find connectors that I can use to connect the strip light to the bike . Anyone have any experience with this? | ||

I tapped into my brakelight under the seat, and ran a 2-wire jumper to the left grab rail, where I mounted a spare Gerbings coaxial heated clothing socket. Topcase has another jumper-pigtail terminating to the mating Gerbings plug. But it's only 2 wires; find a plug that looks OK to you and splice it in, so you can keep your removability on the topcase  | ||

Fernus, The connectors are commonly available Deutsch connectors and they can be installed in to the OEM harness by creating jumper harnesses. I did this with my aux lights on the rear, creating a male and female end that fit the OEM harness but in between, I adapted my "witchcraftery" (cable hack) to light up my Whelen lights and other LEDs. You will need a Deutsch pin crimper that isn't widely available (except online) but does make helluva nice crimps on the pins of the connector. It looks like some places offer alternatives to the $400 tool. I have the OEM tool that came in a kit for a job some years ago, otherwise I wouldn't have dropped $350-400 on it. You can find Deutsch connector kits online as well that match the connectors HD/Buell used. When I was done making my jumper harnesses, I could remove my modifications in just a few minutes and return the OEM lighting schematic back to stock with ease. --Jake | ||

I recommend using Posi-Taps to tap into the brake circuit. Unlike Scotchlok taps, they are compact, make a secure connection, and will not cause trauma to the insulation or wire. Great products for temporary or permanent wiring & repairs.
