right hand side heated grip on my wife's 09 XT doesn't work. I suspect it's the grip itself (and not the wiring/connector), because the grip gets baaaarely warm, while the left hand side is so hot you can't even touch it with a bare hand. I can't find any stock ones, so I guess it will be aftermarket. Stock one has 3 wires going to it (I guess ground, low, and high) - anybody knows if any of the aftermarket ones work the same way? I appears some of them only have 2 wires (I am assuming they regulate between different settings by changing the voltage between 0 and 14) - does that mean I am doomed to lose the low setting and this handgrip will always work on high? Mine fatigued the wires where they came out from the grip. I was able to cut the grip away with a blade to get at the tasty copper meat inside. I was then able to solder it back together and heatshrink it. I spliced it and tied it against the grip so it wouldn't flex there anymore. It's one of those "temporary" fixes that has lasted longer than the original setup. Pics:   It's worth a shot if you have nothing to lose, eh? | ||

We have the full heated grip sets in stock. About a month a go I looked and the left and right grips are still available. If I’m remembering correctly they are $100 Per grip. | ||

Absolutely, thank you! What were the symptoms? Was it not working at all or working just a little bit like mine? Because mine does warm the grip just a bit, barely noticeable with a bare hand.\ Thank you! | ||

My symptom was simple: right side didn't work. Wire fatigued right where you would expect it to where the wire was flexed all the time. | ||

Great, thanks! Mine works, but barely (on both low and hi settings), while the one on the left hand side works great, can't even touch it with a bare hand - that leads me to believe something's wrong with the heated element. Or am I wrong? | ||

If you have an ohm meter, it's worth your while to measure it out from the connector. Three wires, common ground and two different resistors. | ||

I bought a Heat Daemon's grip kit to splice in, since theirs is a three wire element. I have yet to do it though, because I've been wondering if it was something as simple as Nate's repair and maybe I was not being clever enough to sort it out. Both sides dead on mine. $200 is too rich for me for warm hands... I'll just park the bike in the cold instead. | ||

They went out independently, first the left, for a while, then the right eventually joined it. So prolly not the controller... if they went out together I'd believe your were right Nate. | ||

Yan, about 5 years ago I installed the three-wire Polly Heater inserts, connected to the stock grip plugs: https://www.amazon.ca/Polly-Heaters-Handlebar-Grip -PH-200/dp/B000GU5LPS With the Polly Heater inserts, I suppose you could just snip the wires off the defective heated grips (and re-use the plugs to connect the Polly Heaters). In my case, I replaced the defective grips with Buell non-heated grips. Pros:

Totally different animal, and have their own controller, but I have quite a few customers on UJM bikes who have installed Oxford heated grips. Was going to get a set for the S2 and its 1" bars....but Bambi took care of that for me. Their kits seem extremely well-done though. | ||

I lost the low temp winding on one of my grips and 'solved' the issue by opening the connector and swapping wires. Now, that grip will get warm, but not hot. Since I am in Arizona, that works fine. |
