I am looking to buy a low seat, but the one advertised on this site has the same numbers on it as mine, not sure if mine isn't already the low seat. It is yellow and black... Any info would be appreciated. Thanks! |

It looks like you have a 2007 model which had a low seat originally. 2006 models had the tall seat. They also made a low seat for the 2006 model that was different from the 2007 seat. So if my memory serves there are four factory seats: 2006 tall 2006 low 2007 2010 tall (It's the same as 2006 without the cloth top and seams.) If that's not accurate then somebody please fix it for me! |

Most of the seat pans have all the part number on the bottom of them with a mark next to them mark what number they are. 2006-2007 XB12X N0025.1AKAYW in black changed to N0025.1AKFYW, both tall seats. 2006-2007 XB12X N0025.1AKAYCE in Black/Orange, tall seat. 2007 Accessory seats 51901-06YA Black, low seat 51908-06YA Orange/black low seat 2008-2010 XB12X N0025.2AKYCE in Black/Orange, tall seat 2008-2009 XB12X N0025.2AKYW in Black, tall seat 2008-2010 XB12T N0025.2AKYW in black, low seat |

Here is a picture of the pan and the part numbers that are listed. The mark to the left indicates the part number of the set.

My seat is marked N0025.2AKYCE which is a 2008-2010 seat I see. Is that the low seat? |

If the markings are correct is a tall seat. 2008-2010 XB12X N0025.2AKYCE in Black/Orange, tall seat 2008-2009 XB12X N0025.2AKYW in Black, tall |

Let me know if that falls through. I have the 2008xt version of the low seat. As I have replaced it with a Corbin. |

Lance, Thank you, first, for offering information on the seats. I'm confused, however, since you listed the same seat number as both low and high versions above, depending on the year and model bike: "2008-2009 XB12X N0025.2AKYW in Black, tall seat 2008-2010 XB12T N0025.2AKYW in black, low seat" My seat is from an 08X, the pan is marked exactly the same as the photo you posted, (excepting it doesn't have the top-most model number on the pan). Specifically, it is a N0025.2AKYW. Can you clarify please? I'm 5'10" 32" inseam, and it's a bit of a reach. Can I get a lower seat, or is this a low seat? I'm wondering if I should maybe just mod the foam a bit for better leg clearance... Thanks again! |

The problem with going lower on an XB framed bike is the width of the frame at the rider position. If you go to real low on the padding you will find the spread between your legs is too wide. With the seat off throw a towel across it and sit on it. Unless you have an industrially wide hip spread you will instantly see what I mean. There is a trade off in the height holding you above the spread of the frame. |

thanks Vern, I still don't know which seat I'm riding, and I really hate to spend $110 and shipping just to potentially learn that I already have a low, or whatever... I'm considering a Ss tail swap for a little easier reach, but parts aren't abundant... anyone have a good source, have checked ebay, St. Paul shows up there but I'm not buying new for a complete tail or I'll be into the bike another $750 or more. |

Post a picture, we can tell you exactly what seat it has. Regarding the SS tail, all you need to swap is the center piece and the plastic trunk pan. The subframe rails are the same (just without the holes drilled for the footpeg hangars) |

Thanks Froggy! I think I'll go with a tail mod then. I know I liked the STT and SS saddles better anyway. Do you have an idea if the R and S models share that trunk pan? Seems like the SS/STT's would have a different bit, even if the short frame models share them... due to the longer frame rails? Regarding the seat, it's an 08, and the marked number is N0025.2AKYW The pan looks like the one Lance posted the photo of, marked the same, excepting it doesn't have the top most pn# (N0025.1AKFYW) |

seats. black in front is 09 standard, medium height, next back is an 07 or 08 medium height. the 2 behind are optional Low/gel, the # on the pan does not apply to these low option seats. also note how the side panel from the passenger portion extends frontward along the side of the rider. you can see the gel pad through the set pan. the seat to the far right is 06 standard. full length sean on sides of seat=Tall my 1st attempt to post pic.

Since this is a seat thread. I have one in all black, looks like one on the right pictured above. One way or another it's leaving my garage. Make me an offer. |

Thanks Shane, that helps my questions, just being able to compare profiles! Teeps, just to clarify, the one you are selling has the side stitching, in all black? |

Littlebuggles, that is correct. An original 2006 stock seat all black. I have an offer on the seat at the moment. But shipping cost might be a problem... |

Thanks Teeps, I'd be having to strip it down and carve out the foam and then get it custom covered and shaped locally anyway... but if it falls through, well, I'm on the fence. Prolly easier to mod a seat than the bike, BUT the SS saddle profile is nice, the Uly seat feels too wide for my wife, daughter, and myself. |

Wow, I think you are the first to say the pillion seat on the Ulysses is too wide... |

They're both used to perching on the tiny little pillion of an S1 tail, and then briefly on the SS saddle when I had my TT a few years back was plenty for them =] They don't dig sitting way back, feel less secure or something, and it throws the handling off a bit, putting weight further back, so it's gonna be a good change for the whole family, lol. |

Yes the Ulysses does get a little tippy with a generous passenger onboard and sitting rearward. |

Or I bet he can get the nut/washer/bolt setup that was used on the tall screens, for a more secure fit. |
