Looking for general information on rebuilding and modifying the Buell/Sportster engines. I have the factory manual and this (as typical) provides the official guide, using only factory parts/tools. Would also like to get a couple of good and practical aftermarket books that cover up thru the “tuber” years. Need to address some little items like type and use of gasket sealers, breather options, shifter upgrades, valve guide wear, carburetor modifications, exhaust stud removal, etc, etc. Need more practical information and fewer warnings that “could result in death or serious injury”
I have good experience rebuilding Japanese and British motorbikes, but completely new to Harley Engines. Appreciate if you could recommend some books. Meanwhile, thanks to all the contributors to “Old School” section. Your shared experiences are very helpful.
These bikes are what a Sportsters should have evolved into. Great design. 2001 M2
