Sad day, but it is time. I just know it. I retired from the Navy yesterday, and somehow I just feel differently about motorcycle riding. It is kind a weird thing that I can't explain and didn't think I would ever say. I guess my wife stopped complaining about it and I am able to leave on my own terms. That and riding in DC sucks. Anyway, enough about me. I've got a 2008 Ulysses XB12X. New stator, fork seals, front isolator, belt (a while back), spare belt and a bunch of other stuff I am forgetting. She has about 60k miles. She is not shiny show room condition, but is solid. I'll post some pictures if interested. Eventually, I'll put it up on craigslist. I just thought I would post it here first because it feels like selling an old car to a family member. I'm geobaching in DC and drive to Charleston, so delivery along that I-95 path could be arranged. |

Alright Boss, I got buddies from D.C. to SC that will pick the bike up from you for me and then ship it cross country for me. Hit me up so we can organize stuff and I can send one of them the cash to give you when you are ready. |

$2k or even $2600 is a steal. I'm prohibited from buying more bikes |

Froggy, If you buy another SX or RX, you can hide it here. If you want, I can start it and turn the tires from time to time for you. |

I could keep it in the garage or in a Rubber Maid shed all by itself with a 200 watt heater on a thermostat. Your call Frank. |

He is dropping it off to my buddy in Alexandria next week for me. I am so stoked, the year I wanted and everything. This will be my bike to ride while I am stationed in Washington state and will definitely see Canada and Alaska. |

Surface Navy. Good ole USS Nimitz now. Uly is now up in Bremerton Washington with me. She does not like the 30 degree weather I am riding her in. Got better when I put some NGKs in her and got rid of the Champions today. Tomorrow I will put in DCPR8EIX plugs and reset the tps again. She never gets over 225 degrees anywhere on the jugs, measuring with a lazer surface thermometer. Other than that I have rebuilt the front forks, new battery, and AMSOIL in her since I got her delivered 2 weeks ago. |

Be careful on the Nimitz! It tends to go through weird storms and go back it time! |

Watch for spiral cloud patterns fore or aft. Bad medicine. |

I suggest you get the "Race ECU" from IDS. My 2008 really woke up from that and it's not all cold-blooded. |

I have been looking at those programmable ECUs. I have had good luck tuning my F150 and thought about getting the program to tune these myself as well. Can the factory ecu be written over or do I have to get a different one to write over? |

Yep, stock ECM is programmable. Here are some resources: www.buelltooth.com www.ecmspy.com/project.shtml |

Swanthog, thank you for that response. I started looking at those 2 options. The bike has not been the closest alligator to the boat lately so I have not been researching. Still have not put in the dcpr8eix plugs yet. Bike is still bucking below 3000 rpm and feeling like it is running on 1 cylinder. going to swap plugs and read the old ones that come out. Check for intake leaks, then order new plug wires and will add intake gaskets if I find leaks. Bike kind of feels like a 2 stroke where it hits its power band around 3k. |

Well I have not gotten around to putting the new plugs in yet, but another TPS reset tonight and she seems to be running a lot better again. Is that TPS reset really the magical fix that feels like it is? |

If the Throttle Position Sensor is out of adjustment the ECM has no 0 base to start any of its internal adjustments from. So it will run irradically from start up. Once set properly the TPS should go a long time without needing further adjustments. Two things to note. It must be fully warmed up, and the butterfly must move smoothly without sticking in the Throttle bore when closed. So it is important to clean the edge of the throttle blade before setting TPS. A little hint about starting these things. When you fire it up cold do not touch the Throttle. The ECM has it in enrichment mode. Throttle input before it has run a few minutes will mess this up. Blipping the Throttle will foul the plugs as well as starting it and not running it to fully warm up. Don't start it unless you are going to ride it. The bike will run much better and you will be happier not chasing problems that do not exist. |
