I picked up an ebc rotor for my s1w and it is the one that uses pan head bolts instead of the stock flat head ones. Does anyone know the harley part number for the torx bolts? I remember I bought them from the harley dealer when I went through this on my other bike and they were way cheaper than the buell part, but I can't find the part number | ||

I've got a few extras kicking around if anyone needs them. The bolt size/type is: TORX, 5/16-18 X 7/8 | ||

I wound up getting Harley #3655a. They are $0.55 each and the same exact thing as the buell ones | ||

Is there a similar source for HD bolts that fit in the old countersunk rotors? Mine are getting replaced this winter. I saw St. Paul sells a set of 5 for $10, which isn't entirely unreasonable, but if there's an HD version that's only $0.55 each, I'd be happy to hear it. | ||

HD makes one that is close #3680 from the 78-82 FXR / FX, Retail each is $4.10. There are aftermarket kit out there for around $20 for a set. Be careful buying standard hardware, some of it's not as hard as they should be. | ||

One of mine needs drilled out, and a couple others are starting to lose their shape slightly, so I wouldn't trust them much longer. I'm gonna try welding a nut onto the stripped one and see if I can pull it out that way. Otherwise it'll turn into a big project I'm sure. } | ||

I feel like we have had this conversation before......LOL Squeeze a cheek and make room in the boat. I have a newer style rotor with new bolts I'm about to attempt to install on my S1 to replace the old rattly original. I'm dreading putting a tool on those original bolts. } | ||

Make sure you put plenty of heat on them first! | ||

We did just have this conversation, and the one tip that stuck out to me from that conversation was to try tapping them with an impact driver in the opposite direction slightly before you loosen them. It can help break the tension without stripping the head of the bolt in the direction you need to get it out. | ||
