Looking to buy the upper triple clamp and clip ons from a firebolt . Thinking about trying to do a clipon swap on my Lightning.

Not gonna work without significant mods. The keyswitch is different between models and mounts differently, and there are no headlight module mounting provisions on the Firebolt upper triple clamp the way the Lightning/Uly top clamp has. Better option is to remove the security clips on the forks to push them up in the trees an inch or so and mount some Vortex, Woodcraft, or other brand 54mm clip ons to try the position.

Sliding the fork tubes up an inch will change the geometry/handling (how severe - I don't know). I've swapped triple clamps the other direction (putting an S clamp on my R). In my case it required a new switch and a little fabricating.
Dropped bars shaped like an 1125cr or similar handlebar solutions may be an easier path.

Yes it will, but there's not headlight mounting provisions with an R top triple, and the clipons and ignition switch would interfere with the native location of the headlight modules and dash panel. Some significant fabrication would be required. The other option would be clip ons under the Lightning triple, but the modules are still in the way for typical clip on mounts, not to mention any handlebars dropped that low would require drilling holes in the modules for routing clutch and throttle cables anyway.

Phelan, I don't disagree.
There were a few S models in the Milwaukee area that were running R bars. One owner had traded triple clamps with me. I saw his results and I understand the amount of fabrication required, I just wanted to raise awareness of the risks (which may be low) of sliding the tubes up in the triple clamp.

Thanks for the input, but MOST of that doesn't apply to me. I'm not running the stock headlight or gauge setup (7" LED round lamp, custom bucket, RFID ignition).

I have considered aftermarket clip ons, and if I don't find a cheap Firebolt upper triple clamp soon than I will go that route. Was just hoping someone had one laying around cheap so I could save some money since I'm on a budget.

Still looking for Firebolt Upper triple clamp if anyone has one!

I have a Firebolt top clamp but no bars. $40 shipped.
