With a slip on and high flow air cleaner. You can install either the race ecm or Techlusion. Which would you choose and why. Just fishing for ideas and oinions. Thanks |

Along the same lines, anyone w/ a 12 and the Techlusion controller? I have a 12 w/ D&D drilled airbox, race ecm, and cold starts suck, even after a good couple of minutes it will hiccup on take off, which by the way didn't with the stock ecm.The stock ecm worked better with this settup, although I don't know how lean it was running.... |

From what I have seen so far, I think I'm going to go with the Techlusion. I'm still waiting for some results, positive or negative, from people. So far it sounds like the way to go. I'm running a K&N, cut airbox, and mod'ed pipe. |

I'm running the Techlusion on an xb12r and I am very happy with it. Mods are race filter and snorkel removed. Exhaust is stock as is ECM. Search on Techlusion or ping in the archives to get more detail. In a nutshell it works very well with the stock ECM and helped to control the pinging problems (although I have since determined that the quality of gas is a big factor). xbolt12 |

I have mine on XB9 with 12 airbox, K&N filter, and Drummer exhaust. Without the Techlusion box, it was running really lean - I figured that was the case by high mpg I was getting (around 60 mpg and higher) and how frequently the fan was running. I'm very happy with it. The only issue now is the mpg - my first run got only 98miles before the fuel light went on. Second run was better 125miles, and I'm on my third run - better than the second no light yet. |

Does Techlusion not recommend their box for bikes with the race ECM? |

Odie, I would buy one again in a heartbeat. It also feels to me like a significant power improvement. The only gauge I have is I am dead even on acceleration with a friends Ducati 748 running full Termignoni exhaust system (and probably a new prom for fuel). Since the bikes are pretty much the same weight, that would make me think that the bike is in the low 90's on rwhp. He does have more top speed, but also has a six speed transmission. Just guessing of course. xbolt12 |

Mine is running on an xb9r with all the standard mods and the race ecm, works phenominally, only prob is turns the check lite on about twenty miles into a ride, goes off when I stop, does not affect performance, is MUCH stronger than stock,I love it.Will be speaking to dobeck on monday when he returns, but george said run'er! |

Glitch, I read earlier that it tends to work better with the stock ECM. The way I see it is I can spend my money on a race ecm that may or may not cause problems or I can spend a little more money and get something that actually fixes some problems!! I'll be getting one after the holidays thru DaveS. Xbolt, thanks for the info. I'm sure I'll ask the same thing again in a few months....Odie |

Just got off the phone with Mark D, long conversation on the lite prob,he said the same thing, run it, no problems will be caused by it.When he gets back ,he's going to see if he can modify mine or build another unit that will not see the signal.IMHO I would put one one with a stock ecm in a heartbeat, and if I had my old stock one would probably reinstall it,the techlusion is far better in performance than the race ecm,and IS TUNABLE! |

Black9, I had the same problems when I was using the race ECM with the 12. Now I'm back to the stock ECM and the cold starts are fine. I live in Northern Australia and the weather here is toasty warm, we have a 12 month riding season. My bike would ping lots when warm and was a pig when cold. There was a sweet spot of about 10 minutes where it was great. Switched back to the stock ECM and all those problems went away. I'll be fitting my TFi as soon as it arrives... It's been on order for 3 or 4 weeks. |

I have a stock 12 ECM and no check lights with Techlusion. I've got about 1000 miles now. I haven't pulled the seat to see if the LEDs still cycle at idle though. May do that this weekend (as I continue the 10000 mile service). xbolt12 |

The type of Slip On muffler makes a difference in the choice of a Race ECM and a Techlusion. To get the most out of the Techlusion you need to be able to adjust the air fuel mixture. In order to do that well you it would help to use an air fuel gage. This means that the air fuel probe must be able to be slipped up the exhaust pipe past the muffler. This is because if you are near the exhaust opening some pulses of outside air will be sucked into the muffler. The stock muffler and the Drummer (among others) won't allow the probe to be inserted very far. In this case the Race ECM is a better choice. It is possible to pull off the headers and to weld another bung to screw in another oxygen sensor for the probe. Then you can screw the oxygen sensor in the header and get a good air fuel reading and use the Techlusion. |

What?? BadS1 The Race ECM automatically tunes the bike. The Techlusion has to be set. You could use the Techlusion with the recommended settings from Techlusion and probably be close. You could also try adjusting the Techlusion by adjusting from the seat of the pants but that would be iffy. The best way to adjust the Techlusion is with an air/fuel gage in the exhaust pipe. That option is not available with some mufflers due to their construction. That is all I was trying to say. |

From how I understand it the box works with the ECM not replace it. That's all, no need to do everything over again. |

From how I understand it the box works with the ECM not replace it. Great point Glitch! However, I think you could still have a problem if you added a high performance exhaust and intake unless the Techlusion also works with the Race ECM. The stock ECM wouldn’t have enough range to adjust for the new parts. You would still be able to adjust the mixture with the Techlusion to get the stock ECM in range if you knew how. |

The stock ECM wouldn’t have enough range to adjust for the new parts. That's why there's a Techlusion. It's also why I'm paying such attention. I'm thinking the Techlusion with a stock ECM is better than a Race ECM alone. We'll know more as these guys get more seat time. I'll probably get one for my bike, and if it craps out I'll trade my Race ECM for someone's stock one. |

My guess is that the race ecm's advantage over the stock ecm when you're using a techlusion box would be the slightly more aggressive ignition curve. Does a hi-perf o2 sensor work with race/stock ecm? Or is that exclusive for a pc3? The stock ECM wouldn’t have enough range to adjust for the new parts. Until someone steps up who really knows what he is talking about, I beg to differ. No, I disagee. Giving a bike more air, requires more fuel to be injected. The stock ecm is NOT limited (to my knowledge) on the AMOUNT of fuel in can inject, but on the RATIO. Therefore, opening up intake and exhaust, will work with the stock ecm, but you will simply have a lean mixture of 14.something. The thought of a 'range' is really crooked IMO, since it would mean that opening everything up with a stock ecm would result in a bike that runs fine up to a certain throttle position. THEN it would get too much air and run out of its range. |
