There are some that swear by the D&D. There are more exhaust options, most however come from over seas, so the price could be a concern. |

Yes, I saw the D&D pipes and also saw the price tags on those euro pipes. When will Vance and Hines and the other big names catch on ????? |

I had a 2003 XB9 with a Latus can ($360). It looked and sounded great. Nice deep idle tone and decent performance (butt dyno). I now have an XB12 with the D&D and race filter. Sounds like a cammed muscle car, wicked loud. Good, solid construction. I think the Latus had a little more low end bass note to it. The D&D lost a tad on the bottom end, but comes on nice in the upper mids where I ride anyways. Don't know if I'd swear by it, but I like it. Definitely not the cheapest alternative at $500+. If you just want loud, you can probably find something cheaper. Wileyco? (Message edited by tork on October 23, 2004) |

I have to agree with Tork, I had a 9 with a factory race kit...sounded OK , now own a 12 with a D&D. The D&D is loud, and you lose some over stock, in fact I haven't read, or heard of any can other than maybe the Drummer that is better than what you have stock. Buell did a good job making max power in the configuration you get stock..and there's not a proven full system that's worth spending BIG $$$ on. To do it all over I would get a Drummer, probably the best balance between perf. and sound.... |

To do it all over I'd do a Drummer. Well I'll tell ya my 12 with the D&D isn't losing anything on the bottom. If you ask me how I compare???Well I've had the Drummer on my 12 and the D&D kicks its but.Now for a nine it's a great choice.Guys stay with your D&D's you have made a good choice. |

Dana I have been debating wether to answer or not. I don't have much time these days to be here but....I have proof otherwise on losing on the bottom end and it loses on the top end..... but the D&D is louder....but the performance can be proven ..... But I am glad your happy with what ya got, because thats all that matters. because in the big spectrum of bike ownership .....its the grin factor that matters the most |

Sorry Bubba like I said I love your product. And like you said and its proven there aren't huge gains to be made with the DRUMMER/XB12 combo. But I have seen your Dyno run's and I have ridden it both way's for a length of time and the D&D is out performing it.Anyone that buy's a DRUMMER is going to be happy,I was very much pleased.I just had to try something else and it works good.Who know's maybe I'll get board again and try a Gangsta pipe next....I don't know. |

I have to say that one or two hp either way shouldn't matter as much as look and sound - unless you are racing another Buell with an equal rider, and you just absolutely have to get to the other end faster. I had no interest in the Buell race pipe from everything I've read, but the only bike my dealer had left on sale had the full race kit installed. It looked awsome with the ceramic finish and dual outlets, but when I started it, I was amazed at how good it sounded. Pretty damn loud, but not annoyingly so. Good thing too, because I wouldn't have taken the stock pipe out in public, as it sounded awful. I would have been stuck at home waiting for a Drummer rather than riding it one mile. I have no idea what the Buell race pipe did to the powerband, so I guess ignorance is bliss. I did ride a demo with the stock pipe, but I didn't notice a big difference in the way it ran, even in the low end. As a matter of fact, I could have swore I felt the bike plug up a bit in the mid on the stocker, making me wonder if I was feeling the valve close. Either way, I couldn't be happier with the pipe. |

I am happy with my Jardine on the 12 (more power mid to top). It is pretty fn LOUD though in my opinion (ear plugs required). Very deep rumble at idle. I'm actually getting positive comments from Ducati and Japanese sport bike owners (what a switch) who say it sounds awesome. My riding buddy with a Duc 748 and carbon Termignoni's when from saying "I never hear your bike" to "I can't hear my bike anymore" The best part was loosing 12.75 lbs which noticeably improved handing. There is a little more vibration now though without that extra weight hanging off the motor. xbolt12 |
