I bought an S2 a few months ago and it was in rough shape. 15k miles on the clock and I did t even ride it, just began going through it, albeit slowly. I'm going thru my carb since I have the top end off to fix a base gasket leak. I bought a CVP kit and 45/190 jets. I pull the jets out of the carb, 175 main...ok. Pilot jet 20... what?! Air screw was at .75 turns out but no plug to drill out for the air screw. I'm not sure if it has been monkeyed with before. Everything looks stock. Posted a question about the emulsion tube having what looks to be a "built in" needle jet. What was the stock set up on an S2 at delivery, does anyone happen to know? Can't believe it would be a 20 pilot.

I think the factory idle jet is a 42. Compare sizes between that one and your 175 - you sure that isn't a 200 main with a soft-stamped "0" in there somewhere? I'd have to go look at my jet box to get a visual on how big the hole is relative to the body of the jet, but... |

It has the longer stem on it. Definitely a pilot jet. |

Did you put those marks on the jet with a screwdriver? If not it's definitely been monkeyed with as I can't imagine someone who puts those carbs together for a living would've put gouges like that in there, plus they're marks from being removed, so again if you didn't do that, someone had removed and replaced those before. Do you have a picture of what the inside of your carb looks like where you pulled those jets from? Curious if it looks the same as my CV. |

Yeah I got at it with a screwdriver a bit too small, and it gouged the brass rather than turning. Found one just right in my toolbox on the second attempt. I'll take a photo of it when I get a chance. Thanks! -William |

It's amazing how tiny those numbers can be on the pilot jet. When I pulled mine, there wasn't a chance I would've been able to read it as is. The only way I could tell what I had was by opening the camera on my phone and zooming in to treat it like a magnifying glass. |
