I got the motodemic ring and had the light sitting from the other members thread on going with a led. I got a new/used bucket but it only had the bezel. What do you guys suggest? How many clips are there that hold the headlight into the bucket? I can't open my old one.

Are you talking about the wire clippy things that hold in the reflector to the bucket? Also, why can't you open your old one? (Message edited by natexlh1000 on May 25, 2017) |

Yes the clips that hold the glass Bosch reflector to the bezel. How do you open the headlight? I think mine is stuck, I had a led bulb with fan in the back so it barely fit and I bent the lip in the bucket a bit. When I put the old style bulb back. I also turned the bezel a little to the right. I can't turn the bezel or pull it off on the old one. |

You unscrew the captive philips screw at the bottom and then with a very thin wide implement, pry the bezel from the headlight from the bottom near the screw. This screw is captive. It's not supposed to come all of the way out. |

What do you use to pry it out? I know the screw doesn't I have the second bucket. There is a open channel for that screw, problem is I turned the bezel so the screw is now behind the lip and not in the cut out in the center of the bucket. So the clips aren't sold separately? I will have to worst case cut open my old bucket? |

I tried a small flat screw driver in between bezel and bucket. It it knicked some of the black paint that's about it. (Message edited by X1bully on May 25, 2017) |

No worries.. It dawned on me I could use a punch to pry it open after looking at my spare bucket and checking how far the screw can go. Alright!!!!! I will try to put the new led headlight in tonight.l using the original bucket.

In case anyone needs to do it, I placed the punch in the right drain hole on the bezel and lifted up. |

That trick with the punch is probably the CORRECT way to do it. I will try to remember that in the future. That light looks really badass. Let us know how the beam looks when you're actually riding it, OK? |

Thanks. I'm liking it. Still want the shorty tail then I think I'll have it looking the way I want. Well gonna be awhile since I need to fix the isolator. I'll roll it out and try to take a pic at night this weekend.. When installing, I only taped north and south. So I think one side is a bit off center but it's centered. Also the lip on the Bosch reflector is bigger so I had to bend a clip or two very slightly. I think I might reinstall the clips more evenly but it's good right now. |

When you hooked this light up did you use the included decoder adapter or wire it direct? |

Hopefully you got my pm S1. Nope did not need the decoder to turn the light on. It fits snugly in the bucket with the original plugs. All I did was wrap the small parking socket with electric tape so the metal won't touch anything. The decoder won't fit in the bucket for sure. I haven't ridden it yet though because of the motor isolator so I don't know if it will flicker or what not when running but I don't think it will based on other bikes I've changed to led bulbs. |
