Recently picked up a 99 X1 without a muffler that I am looking to flip. Does anybody have a cheap muffler and mounting hardware(2.5 and without a bend like a race muffler)(I did try parts/wanted) or know of a decent looking/sounding alternative? I'm also looking for a single smoked turn signal lens.

If you come across any cheap 2" mufflers in your search for a 2.5", let me know. I've been entertaining the thought of going back to a stock exhaust on mine.

you have a 2.5" header with a rear facing outlet? That's either a race header...or something aftermarket that won't work with any OEM muffler.

You need to verify that before you go buying "a muffler".

An OEM header on a 99 X1 would have a 2.5" side-facing collector outlet, requiring a muffler with an inlet elbow.

What I did was 2.5 in 90 degree bend from summit racing then a 2.5 drag baffle the a reducer down to 1.75. Used chain links and header clamps to bolt up to mount. Pretty quiet.

This is my $35 muffler. Its a Summit racing glasspack- I welded a turnout and painted it with BBQ grill paint. I really like the sound and the external diameter is the same as my old exhaust so it lined up perfectly. The old D&D muffler was too loud for my taste. This one is perfect.
