Cool I always thought the changes to the s1 to x1 frame had to be useful in one way or the other. I just don't want to make it worse, that's my only fear when working on stuff. Like I don't want to break something that would cost me more had I just sent it out to get done by a pro. Not many places service these bikes so it does require some mechanical skills. I'm always willing to give it a try if not requiring special tools that cost a lot. |

In general, unless you know someone who does good cheap labor, you can usually break 3-4 other things while you're in there, and still cost yourself less than dropping the bike off somewhere and paying someone else to do it. |

Curious anyone use these inserts for their isolators? Looks like a good idea. http://m.ebay.com/itm/Buell-Isolator-Inserts-95-02 -Erik-S1-X1-Lightning-M2-Cyclone-S2-/322293963263? hash=item4b0a3799ff%3Ag%3AFi4AAOSwLnBXW3sN&_trkpar ms=pageci%253A3d095f19-3a92-11e7-aa02-74dbd1803ccf %257Cparentrq%253A13aa3a4415c0abda6d278181ffff66d3 %257Ciid%253A2 |

Racers used inserts like that back in the day to help stiffen up the chassis . The big problem with them is they transfer high amounts of vibration to the chassis. |

Thanks will have to think about adding these pieces, I want to add the billet front engine mount and these would make it pretty solid.. So essentially it's like the sportster 2004 before and after to the use of rubber mounts? Some people like the pre rubber mounts for dirt track and most people like the rubber mount for daily riding.. It looks like it won't pop out with it installed. Really strange how mine is right now. I did pick up another bike a 98 bandit 1200 s but it too needs work, carb clean, chain tensioner, and starter. Thinking about riding the bandit for commuting. I do like looking at my buell in the garage even if I can ride it. |

Those inserts effectively prevent the isolators from doing their job. I would not use them. I suggest that you get the new style isolators installed. They're bullet proof. |

I have all three new ISO's i should maybe sell them. The top is the updated one from American Sport Bike about two years ago. The rear ISO came from Lance. I will sell for the going rate. The top is a spare and the rears, well that would be a gamble to sell those. |

I agree with Hootowl. We tried the inserts with the hopes of extending isolator life and the vibration was terrible (at least on the bike we tested). |
