I bought a Barnett 102-31-10002HE from ebay brand new in original packaging. I can only just get it installed with the ball and ramp clutch mechanism completely extended and all adjustments minimized. This part is listed as being correct for the tube frames, the cable needs to be about 3/4 of an inch longer or the tube 3/4" shorter. Has anyone used one of these? |

I vaguely remembered a similar issue. Check the procedure for getting the ball and ramp installed correctly. I don't have the answer for you but keep working on it. |

Balls and ramp nut may be too tight. |

Did you lay your old cable next to the new one for a reality check? |

No old cable, converting from hydraulic. Check my post history for pictures. I figured out the problem. The clutch lever and perch assembly isn't stock it's from some other bike I used to have. I Think I am going to cut 3/4-1" from the adjuster in the center . Long term plan is an aftermarket clutch perch with an adjustable pivot that will certainly have the same problem as this one. |

If you had a Magura or matchmex they were not very good, the best is a Muller |

It might be easier to remove 3/4 of the cable housing from either end instead of the adjuster, as long as you take your time and don't cut through to the actual cable. "No old cable, converting from hydraulic. Check my post history for pictures. " Can you check post history on this site?? I don't think I've ever seen that option. |

What I was referring to on check history was to use the search feature to search for posts by me. But here ya go http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/797887.html?1480376240 Also why am I getting rid of the hydraulic clutch? I am trying to reduce the hand effort. |

So i shortened the cable, cut off the end and shortened the adjuster by an inch and made a new end from brass with set screws squeezing the cable from either side. the pull with this is harder than the hydraulic clutch but not by much, also it doesn't feel as smooth but it does give more engagement feedback Next step is a muller power clutch or similar |

That's going to require more shortening of the cable adjuster. E-Z clutch and similar devices work by increasing the moment arm of the ball release mechanism, which puts the cable tip 3/8" or so further away from the handle. |
