Im going to post this here since so few post in the racing section any longer. While its about drag racing, some of the questions could be answered by many non-racers "So I got a spare 1125 that doesnt have a title, I think its a great candidate for a race bike/project. Going to look into different things, looking for help a) put wheelie bars on it, lighten it up, go. b) lower it and a long-ass swingarm c) full chassis built for racing pretty much it goes $ $$$ $$$$ SInce I have little $, Im sort of leaning that way. Anyone done bars on a 1125 yet? possible to use the subframe as a mounting point? Thinking where the passenger pegs are supposed to mount would be a good spot Channing Kraemer over on fb suggested using axle too. Any downside to this? What about struts? Could I use a strut made for an XB on this?" |

I put the last bit in bold (sorry I dont know how to edit posts on this relic of a board) Are the shock mounts the same size on a XB and 1125? If so then I could get a strut made for an XB since it doesnt seem like there are any for the 1125R specifically. OR Use a spare shock that i have for a XB for the mounting ends of a strut |

Pingel used to sell a wheelie bar kit with a strut. Here is a link to an old thread showing them. http://www.buellxb.com/forum/showthread.php?48987- 1125R-wheelie-bars-and-air-shifter I was able to get into the 10.9's with strapping the front end down and lowering the tire pressures. A quickshifter helped too. Short shifting through 1st helps keep the front end down. I've seen a few pingel sets for sell randomly on ebay and on the classified section here. Ive been 10.9Xs stock before (literally rode the bike 90 miles to go to the race when my tuber blew the motor during the testing session ha). Already have another set of pingel bars, just no strut... |

I'd say do #1. Go out and have fun, the build can always evolve, but cheap and quick is available to you right now. Should be able to hit 9's without that much work. I went 10.3 with just the EBR exhaust. |

Yeah, its likely that's where I'll go with it. At least for a few years, as the full chassis is pricey |
