Why not get a new one and then keep your old one as a spare? I think Froggy and a few other guys do that. I'm not sure how long the belts are supposed to last, but if my factory belt hasn't started crapping out by 20K miles, I'm going to buy a new one and keep the old one as a spare. Speaking of which, is it likely that the belts are going to be one of those hard-to-come-by items, that I might as well just buy now? I hate to replace a belt that might have plenty of life in it, but I'd also hate to wait and then get boned due to availability or price increases. Sometimes used belts pop up once in a while on here, ebay, etc. I've bought a few for various bikes over the years to have as emergency spares. Sometimes the best option is to just buy a new belt and throw it on next tire change and hang onto the old belt as the spare. On the 1125s a used belt can be curled up easily to fit under the seat |

A spare rear pulley is a good idea too. A worn pulley can cut belt life in half. I've 53,000 miles on original belt. Still looking good. Picked up a spare pulley on eBay awhile back. |

I'm on my 5th belt after 65,000 miles on my 2008 1125R... Thinking I should get a spare soon. |
