Looking to do my rocker box gaskets sometime in the next couple weeks. While I have the engine rotated I figured I would do a couple other preventative maintenance items, oxygen sensor, PCV valve, etc. 17607-00Y is the part number for the PCV valve but Harley wants $32 each. That seems a little excessive to me. I think the last time I changed one of these on my car I paid less than $7. Does anyone know of an alternative part number that work on our XB's? |

They don't seem to gum up; I don't think replacement is really necessary. I used to just put a shot of carburetor cleaner through the ones on my cars, shake them around, then dump them out and they'd last forever. You could always do that. |

Save your money and reuse. If it isn't broke ... |

The PCV valves on the XBs have the same umbrella valve inside that was used on tubers and sportsters in the rocker box. The PCV valve also includes some open cell foam to separate the oil mist from the air (I think.) There is nothing in there to wear or get plugged up so replacement is not necessary IMHO.
