Nicky finished his rookie season in fifth. Not too shabby, but nothing like Ben Spies' rookie season. Also, most people here are aware I am not a big Jonny Rea fan, but that was a class act in Race 2 allowing Sykes to pass him and cement second in the championship. Here's hoping Honda's updated CBR1000RR makes Nicky more competitive next year. |

Manuela? She's only a sky scraper when she stands next to Marco.

The other one I miss is Randy de Puniet's better half, Lauren Vickers. |

Wow! That may very well make things more interesting (and incredibly dangerous since the fast guys will be working their way through a crowd of slow guys at the first turn - how many times have we seen big pile-ups in the first turn? This seems like a recipe for pile-ups.) But while viewers want interesting, they also want fair. There's something that seems very unfair about punishing someone for doing well in the first race (while rewarding someone for doing poorly). |

If it works, don't fix it. The system they were using worked well. Why screw with it? |

I just want to know what they're mixing in their alcohol over there? I thought they nailed all the Austrian, German and Italian wine makers from adding ethylene glycol to their overly-sweet wines??? |

Nicky and Stefan have their work cut out for them, but at least sponsorship dollars should NOT be an issue this year. Davies and Melandri are looking ominous and are probably the only thing in the way of a Rea "Three-peat." |

Nicky and Stefan had their collective asses handed to them in race 1. Down on power and no edge grip. BUT! P.J. Owned them all. He and the MV are working quite well. He starts on pole. |

Unfortunately, PJ finished off the podium... BUT as Max Biaggi once said: "In order to finish first, first you must finish..." |

The new CBR needs time.....It actually needs 1-2 years to start winning... If it wins in less than that, it will be a miracle! The level in WSBK is very very high ! ! Yamaha had its new 2015 R1 first run in competitive national series(BSB) and world SUPERSTOCK for 2 years , and then took it to WSBK last year... They had a bad year for Yamaha standards..... A Major injury for their no1 rider, Sylvain Guintoli that nearly ended its career, etc Suzuki will run its new 2017 GSXR in BSB for 1 year, before it enters WSBK, again with Sylvain Guintoli as their no1 rider..... HONDA chose a different approach by introducing its new 2017 CBR directly to WSBK....of course they will have o sh#t year...... I just feel sorry for Nicky Hayden who is one of my favourite motorcycle racers..... (Message edited by vagelis46 on February 27, 2017) |

I'm not TOO worried. The new bike seems to take up where the old bike left off but has a lot more room to grow. The biggest issue was Honda not being able to get them the updated model until two weeks before testing began. Nicky was the ONLY rider not on a Kawasaki or Ducati to win a race last year. There's no place to go but "up." And that's odd coming from me, because I NEVER root for Honda... In Nicky's case, I'll make an exception. |

For sure the new CBR did not take up where the old left off.... Listening to Hayden's interview it was very clear his disappointent and he clearly said that he had a scary race and he was pushing beyond the bike's limit just to make the top 15th.....Ahhhh.... and he also got himself injured trying .... not good ! |

I think it only LOOKS like the new CBR is below the previous year's bike's capabilities because everyone else has advanced so much in the off-season. Have faith. |

First Nicky raced with a broken frame. Now he just had to drop out of race one with ANOTHER technical issue. WTF kind of POS has Honda saddled him with?? I was wrong and Vagelis46 was right. |

Latest update from Asphalt & Rubber says that he is out of surgery and currently in a medically-induced coma to speed his healing. |

I can't claim to know Nicky, but I have had the opportunity to speak to him a couple of times briefly at races. He strikes me as a complete stand up guy. Hope he makes it. |

These updates seem to be conflicting. Yesterday they said he'd undergone surgery and was being kept in a medically induced coma; today they're saying his condition is too precarious to allow surgery so they're waiting to see what happens. |

Maybe they did SOME surgery but they can't operate on his skull at the moment? |
